Skin Problems Anyone???
Hello All of my November buddies,
I was wondering if any of you were having the same skin problems I'm having.
My face is red & blotchy & dry.
I have for 2 years now used the Arbonne RE9 skin care system & it has always worked so well.
But as of the past month it's not. I have put cortizone cream on my face because it sometimes feels so red & itchy, that usually works after a few days....but were going on like 6 weeks now.
I almost cried yesterday, my husband told me I had too much makeup on my cheeks & I wasnt wearing any blush.
I have NEVER had any skin issues in the past, so I was just wondering if it has anything to do with my surgery...or since surgery was 4 months ago, what else could it be???
Other than that I'm doing good, I'm down to 190, so thats a weight loss of 70 pounds...YEAH BABY !!!!!!!!!!
What type of vitamins/supplements are you taking? Sometimes too much Niacin can cause flushing and redness in the skin. You may be seeing this and thinking it is dry, irritated skin? Just a thought but check your vitamin labels and do a bit of research to see what the recommeded daily allowance of Niacin, also called B3 is and how much is too much.
I just read::
In the high doses used for controlling cholesterol levels (anything above 100mg/day), nicotinic acid can cause skin flushing and itching of the skin as well as headaches and hypotension
Daily Value for niacin is only 20mg
I will get some new vitamins & see if my face clears up
Thanks!!
Hi Julie, I can really relate to your problem. My skin has never been great, oily and pimples and facial hair (doesn't that sound lovely?), but since surgery It has become very dry, flakey, red and blotchey. I know I have rosacea, but now it is so much worse. I just made an appointment to see a dermatologist Friday, because I have to get this under control. Actually, I was thinking your problem sounds like rosacea, with the red rosey cheeks. Do they look like there are tiny little blood vessels in the redness? I would recommend that you google rosacea and see what you think. It is very common. I also would encourage you to not use hydrocortisone on your face on a regular basis because it can cause thinning of the skin.
Good luck! Linda O.
I also have had huge dryness issues. I finally bought some face cream from Clinique for really dry skin, and it has helped. I've never had dry skin before so this is a real change for me. Someone suggested to me it's also because we're not eating very much fat anymore and your skin does need some fat.

I'm not really having skin issues but I have definitely noticed that my skin is drier than it used to be. I use lotion on it every day now and I didn't used to. Also my scalp is much less oily. I used to have to wash my hair every day because it would be so greasy by the next day but now I can go every other day and it looks fine. So I'm sure the massive change in our diet has contributed to that. I agree with one other poster that mentioned rosacea (I don't think I spelled that right). My mom has trouble with that and it causes very red, irritated and itchy skin especially on the cheeks. You might go meet with a dermatologist and see what they have to say.
Good luck!
