Getting honest with myself
After reading many posts about people who had surgery around the same time as I did losing about 80 pounds, and with the scale not moving for the post couple (feels like several) weeks, I started getting honest with myself. I'm down 62 pounds, and believe me, I'm grateful, but I found that I've been getting sloppy. I was still eating 6 times a day, small meals or snacks, but perhaps not making great choices. For example, I started eating oyster crackers 1/2 cup 1-2 times a day. I started adding slivered almonds to my yogurt 1-2 times a day, and each time I did it, I would add a little more. I'm getting lots of protein in, and getting perhaps 6 cups of fluids in, and I've started water aerobics 4 times a week. I decided that I need to be more careful with what I eat, and am cutting out some snacks. I'm going to eat 3 small meals per day, plus 1 protein shake, and one protein only snack at night if I need it. I started doing this yesterday, and have gotten through yesterday and today without dying of starvation. At least now I feel like I'm being pro-active in taking charge of my eating again. I'm doing everything I can to lose the weight and continue on the health journey. I'm also journaling my food in SparkPeople, and am surprised at how fast those calories and carbs add up. Anyway, I just wanted to share what's going on with me, and to thank everyone for sharing your progress and difficulties with me.
Best wishes to everyone, Linda O.

I'm with you Linda! I know that nuts are a trigger for me but this week I had a big bag of mixed nuts in my office. I thought that I could have just my allotted few each day but yesterday I really blew it. I still have such ugly food issues when I'm under extreme stress at work. I plan on reeling myself back in today and being very careful. Maybe a lobotomy is what I need!
Remember that we all lose at different speeds, 62 pounds in 3 1/2 months is great. I had my surgery on 11/20, and am down 65 poounds. A lot has to do also with how much you are looking to lose. If you need to lose 150 pounds it will be different than if you need to lose 100 pounds. Age also figures into this. You are doing great, and it is good to recognize where you are getting sloppy, I just started writing everything down, will have to look at this website you are using. Good luck to you!

Linda, Speaking of getting honest with one's self ... I kept "Thinking" i was getting in enough water even though i wasn't counting. So just to make sure I went out and bought a half gallon jug. That way when I finished it I would know I got at my 64 ounces in. WOW. That is a LOT of water. LOL. I obviously wasn't getting in all my water each day because it has been a chore today to get all this water down. So my new goal is to actually drink all my water, not just think that I am, and also to keep my hand out of the pretzel bag!
