Scope Update!

Hi Shawn, You are not gonna believe this-but I had been wondering about you and for some reason-thought you were on my HOME Board-which is MO-and I just popped in and thought that the name looked familiar~I can have such blonde moments!!! (no offense any one who is blonde-LOL) I am so thankful you finally have some answers and that you may start to feel better. It sure stinks to be sick all the time! Were you taking anything after surgery like Pepcid? I am asking because our surgeon had me on Prilosec pre-op and then she has me taking Pepcid AC Complete 2x a day-so just wondering if you were on anything and still got the ulcers-or was it just a side affect from the surgery? Thats scary! Have you experienced problems since surgery and just didnt know what to do in the beginning since some people dump a lot? Sorry for all the questions-but I get sick A LOT....not every single day-but I dont eat sometimes, just drink the shakes-did you get sick when you would have just liquid? Thanks for the concerns Janet.. I do appreciate you thinking of me... To answer your questions... I was on Pepcid 2x a day for 6 weeks post op... then when I called them about my problems of throwing up, they had me start taking it again ASAP.... They said the ulcers can be a side effect of the surgery.... Strictures and ulcers have the same symptoms, it just so happened that I had both... they thought it was one or the other.... I didn't throw up every day either, only when I ate solids... and not all solids did it to me... mostly meats were the main culprit... liquids were fine and most soft or pureed foods were fine... If you are having a hard time with solid foods then I would call your doctor as soon as possible to get it checked out, it may be nothing, but then again don't you want to feel better??? I thought it was just me and how I was eating... since my scope it is like night and day.... I can eat just about anything I want to and I am no longer afraid to eat for fear of throwing up.... Definitely call your doctor... Good Luck and keep me posted on how you are doing... Shawn M.
