BC pill / weight gain
Hello Britt,
I know this is not what you asked, but I feel I need to post!!! I had my surgery 11/27/06 and have lost only 39 lbs (I was at 40, but gained 1 back.) I feel this is very slow!!!! I am not on bc. I feel I am having to fight for every lb also. It is very sad to see others loosing faster. I would just like to be in onederland!!!! I have not moved on the scale for almost 3 wks now. I even went out and bought a new one. lol It is just so hard knowing all that I have been through and not have it move. Everyone tells me "you are not as big as others" and "you are building muscle" if I hear this anymore I am going to scream!!!! I have seen others around the same weight as me (250 day of surgery) loosing faster than me. I would just love to know what the heck I am doing wrong. I know everyone's body is different but it is so difficult.
Thank you for letting me vent!!!!!!!!!
I hope all works out for you and your husband and your weight loss picks up!!!

Vent away! I just posted about plateaus on my blog today .Yes it is VERY frustrating!!!!
I knew coming into this that plateaus happen and that everyone will loose weight at their own pace.
But - when that scale isn't moving as fast as you feel it should be! It can drive you nuts
If you know you are doing the right thing ... keep on keeping on and talk to your surgeon about it, I am talking to my surgeon and nutritionist this Thursday.
Lets keep in touch and encourage eachother!
hopfully our darn scales will MOVE IT and we'll be in ONEderland soon enough!
hugs and thanks for sharing you "you are not alone" story with me,
Britt
Britt,
I went off birth control for about a month prior and after surgery but have been on it since then. I personally don't think it has made any difference for me with weight loss. Perhaps it has but I don't know because I went back on it so quickly after surgery. But then I never had weight gain when I originally went on BC so it just might not effect me that way. Another warning though...my surgeon told me that BC pills by themselves are NOT for at least a year after surgery for preventing pregnancy. Because we are dumping all this fat, and that is where we store hormones, we typically become VERY fertile. So you might want to look into another form of birth control anyway...aside from the fact that it's effecting your weight loss. My surgeon was very adament about this. I haven't spoken to my gynocologist since surgery but when I discussed it with him a year ago he said that the pill may not work anymore. Anyway just thought I'd pass the word along!
