BC pill / weight gain
Hi ladies,
I am currently on the generic version of the Seasonal birth control pill (Quasense). I am starting my 8th week on the pill. Since taking it I feel my weight loss is SLOWER - I exercise 6 days a week for 1 hr and I am eatting a healthy diet, getting all my water, protein and all that in. I just feel like I am fighting for EVERY single pound. I know eveyone loses at different rates.
Am I just a slower loser or is my BC pill a problem????
Do any of you ladies on the pill - have any isuues / input with this?
I loved to hear -
Thanks a lot!
Hugs,
Britt
Hi Britt,
I am not on the pill dur to hysterectomy in 2005. However, my sister in law went back on birth control at a little over 1 year post op and gained 10 lbs in 2 months or less. As soon as she went off of them the weight started coming back off. Our surgeon told her not to take them. Hope this info helps. My weight loss seems to be steady 3-4 lbs a week, slower than it was but still steady.

Our hormones are whacky enough with the surgery and the weight loss. I can't imagine adding bc pills in the mix! I would send DH for a vasectomey and call it a day! Seriously, if you are taking bc to stabelize your hormones I would recommend going the natural bio-identical route. That means that you would find a compounding pharmacy that can help you get tested (the saliva test is the most accurate). After testing you will know what compound your body needs. Many of us are estrogen dominate and need a compound of testosterone and progestine. If you need the bc pills for actual birth control, the bioidentical hormones will not help. Good luck--hormone balance is so important for our weight loss and overall health.
I can't offer too much input on this since after having six kids I had my tubes tied (for the second time...long story).... However I did want to go on bc pills to help regulate me, since my cycles are all over the place. My doctor advised against it because of the weight gain issues that can be associated with bc pills.... If your hubby is against getting a vas. then you could always get yourself done, it really isn't that bad, but the decision is yours and make sure you are 100% certain you are 100% done having kids.... It should be considered pernanent and can have a lot of emotional scars if you are not sure that this is what you want. Don't do it just because of slow weight loss... that is not a good enough reason... I went through the trauma and greif of having my tubes tied the first time and it was not pretty... the second time (after a couple more kids) I was ready and it felt right.... It took me a while to make the decision too that time...
To explain..... I Had a tubal reversal done so that I could have more kids.... Not an easy procedure and only 50% success rate, but I had 2 more babies (3 pregnancies thought) and it worked for me.... But never go into such a procedure with the thought that it can be reversed.... Be sure it is what you want... I was very luck that the reversal worked for me because my tubal devastated me from the minute I woke up from the surgery...
Good Luck with your decision and I hope you make the right one for you....

Hey Shawn
Thanks for responding. My hubby and I have just began talking about a vas for him as a possability - he isn't really sure about it - but says he wouldn't rule it out. I know that is an easier operation than having my tubes tied. I do know that the pill is NOT for me and I am going to talk about my options with my gyno and see whats out there.
We are VERY content with our three daughters and KNOW that our family is complete
Wow - you were very blessed that your reversal worked. I heard that is does not most often. Just shows you somethings are just meant to be.
thanks for sharing,
Britt
Best of luck with your decision... it is good that you both KNOW that you are done.... I had thought we were done, but obviously God had other plans for us and our reversal worked.... There are many other options out there if either of you are unsure of sterilization, I think you are doing the right thing by talking to your doctor and finding out your options... Good Plan!!!! and Good Luck!!!
OH and sorry about getting so long winded in my other post.. I just starting typing and before I knew it, I was rambling.... I do that alot.. LOL...
