Does anyone get nausea also?

Especially when trying to get my fluids in. I am having an awful time. My surgery was 11-30-06. I'm doing pretty good with the rest of my diet, but getting enough fluids in has been a challenge. I think this is why I experience so much nausea. I think I get to the point of dehydration and then anything I eat or drink becomes a challenge. Can someone help me along please? Does this feeling pass? And when? I've lost about 50 so far from my OPEN RNY. Congrats to all of you who are doing so wonderfully.

Sorry, I have no answers for you but I have noticed that I never get nauseated unless I have a banana! It's so weird. Hope you get past your nausea soon. Your weight loss is fabulous!

Thanks for replying Shawn. Your experience doesn't sound much better than mine. What do your Dr.'s say about you throwing? How often do you throw? Do you have any trouble getting in the full amount of liquids they want us to have? I just seem to have more ill feeling days that better feeling days. It's getting me down.

Well, I will be having a scope next week.... I don't have a problem with liquids or soft foods, it is just the solids.. mostly meats... It doesn't make much sense with the foods that I can eat and how much of them, and then the stuff I can't eat without Hopefully I will get some answers after this scope next week.... If you are having that hard of a time, I would contact your doctor... they may want to check things out.... Good Luck.... Shawn M.

Please let me know how you make out with your scope. I want to hear all about it. I do notice that I feel a little better if I can force more fluids and food. Once I get over a certain threshold, the nausea seems to subside. It's just being able to maintain that balance. I'll keep on it! Thanks. Peg

I had my surgery on the same date, and I too am having nausea. It usually doesn't happen until 2 hours after I eat lunch. I just spoke with my doctors office and they say it might be my gall bladder. I've been taking the gall bladder medication, and you might not even have yours, but that's the only thing my doctor said it might be.

I went through a couple of weeks where suddenly everything I ate nauseated me. I'm not sure why and now I'm fine. I didn't actually vomit ever just felt crappy after just a few bites of food. Liquids were fine though and I've not had any problem with them. But I do experience getting nausea if I have waited to long to eat or drink. My first few bites/sips make me feel crappy. So I try really hard to not let myself get there. I also get very light headed and dizzy when I'm dehydrated so that would be another sign that you're not getting your fluids in enough. I think the only thing I could tell you is take it slow. It might be that you are drinking too big of gulps or too quickly. Also pay attention to how much air you might be swallowing. I have to be SO careful about that because I tend to swallow a lot of air and that makes my stomach pretty upset, or if I take too much at one time. I literally have a glass of water next to me constantly and take sips whenever I see it otherwise I'd never get enough because I can't just gulp down a glass quickly anymore. I hope that helps a little. You should still ask your Dr about it. This shouldn't be about being miserable!! Corinna Q

I had this problem and my Doc told me it was from not getting enough liquid or going too long without food. So I started to eat more regular and I have no more nausea.
