Am I losing too slowly?
Hi everyone!
You all seem to be doing really great! I don't know if I am or not. I started at 256 pre-surgery and am now 226 almost two months out. So 30lbs...is that good? I see so many people losing so much faster. I don't know what else I can do. I work out and follow all the rules but it just seems to come off so slowly. I am a bit discouraged. Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks friends,
Bonnie
Hi Bonnie, I had my surgery on Nov. 07, 2006 and that is approximately 2 month and 18 days, I have lost 37lbs. I went to see my surgeon yesterday and he said that was great, I get very discouraged as well, BUT as long as it is coming off instead of coming on I am very happy with it! From what I have read we are both about average in the loosing dept. As they say "it will come off" maybe it is better for us to loose it slowly. I started out at 255. Hope this helps you.

Hey Bonnie and Chrisy,
I think you guys are doing great! I started out at 235 on surgery day (11/08/06) and am now at 213... stalled for the past week again. I'm doing everything I'm supposed to, including cardio and weight training, so I have to trust it will come off eventually, but it's hard to stay positive sometimes.
Hang in there,
Trish
Hi Bonnie,
I had surgery on 11/30/06 and started at 279.5 and last time I looked I was 234.0, but for the last week I've ping-ponged back and forth from 231.5 to 234.0, and this is not my first stall. Very frustrating. Mind you I know I could be doing more in the working out dept., I just haven't gotten motivated yet to increase my activities. I sure wish I had someone who lives close by so we could push each other along.
Hang in there, I am 8 wks post op today and instead of weighing in I'm going to take my measurements instead.
Debbie
Hi Bonnie!
You are doing great! Everyone looses at different rates - it also depends on how much each person has to loose. I agree with you it is hard sometimes when the scales isn't moving the way you'd like it too. I too have gotten bummed when I hear and see other peoples Amazing weight loss - and I feel like I am a slow poke. I had my surgery on 11/6 and started out at 250.5 and today I am 205 - a 45.5 weight loss. (I will be 12 weeks out on Monday) Regardless - the fact is - I am down 45.5 pounds and quite a few inches. I feel better and look better. The scale is going in the right direction and that is what matters! Celebrate your success. I have started making MINI goals for myself and will reward myself for each one achieved!!
I agree with the previous poster - Take your measurements. I take them monthly and I feel so good SEEING that I am shrinking. At 2 months I was down 23" (that's almost 2 feet!!!) Are you taking your measurements? If not think about starting now. You said you are working out and following the rules ... so stick with it - and know we are here to ENCOURAGE you along the way.
Good job
hugs,
Britt

The sales can be so demoralizing! It makes our day or ruins our day. I've only lost 34 since surgery on 11/13/06. I lost an additional 10 pre-op so I'm down 44 total. Either my scale doesn't move for days, or I keep bouncing up and down. A lot of people suggest that we measure so that we see improvements in the measurements even when the scales don't budge. All we can do is to keep doing what we know is the right things to do. At some point we will look back and see that we had nothing to worry about.
Thanks so much everyone for your responses! My hormones don't help lately when I'm feeling down about something. Sometimes its such a roller coaster. I know I screwed up pre surgery because I was probably one of the few people who actually gained weight pre surgery due to all my "last" meals but coulda, woulda, shoulda, you know...lol. Anyhoo.. I'm just completley overwhelmed at the moment. I haven't worked since surgery and now my hubby and I are getting ready for a big move from FL back up north to MA in Feb so its just money issues, weight loss stress, and it can all be a bit overwhelming. I did find a support group to go to up north so I will continue with that. And I'm going to try and take it all in stride, one day at a time with the weight loss. I will take my measurements too. Good idea!
Thanks again...don't be strangers..
Bonnie
Hi Bonnie,
I had my rny on 11-18-06 My original weight was 287. but preop was 262.
I am about9 weeks out and current wt is 227. i also am boo hooing about what seems like slower than average loss. it is reassuring that there are others. i am exercising fairly regularly and havent run in to manythings i cant eat. i think we just need to focus on each day and on how much we have achieved so far. i know im wearing smaller clothes, yeah and i definitely have more energy.
Hang in there, its just a slow process
