Help???
Not sure what has been going on. Friday night I had something new, chicken with a little spices that I think has upset my new pouch. Well Sat night I dumped and have had bad pains (like when you get sick) since then. Sunday was fine, I did alot of mushy foods. This a.m. while having my protein shake I dumped again and the pains are back, in fact I woke up around 3a.m. feeling like I was going to get sick. Has anyone experienced this? I've had such a smooth ride so far I have no idea what it could be.
thanks
Michelle
Well, I have not 'dumped' yet.. at least I don't think I have, but I have had sharp pains followed by I finally figured it out that it was from eating too fast. I wonder if that could be the problem? If not maybe you should contact your surgeon's office if it persisits... I Had a small time there that I had to go back to basics and let my pouch rest. Even some of the things I was eating fine before was not setting right. That is why I went back to basics for a couple of days.... Good Luck, I hope you are feeling better soon and if not, call your doctor.

Shawn that's what I did yesterday back to basics, lots of soft foods. Today too, I think that could be it, eating too fast. I ate mindlessly Sat night and after dumping, I had a sore pouch, which isn't quite healed so I think that makes it worse. NOw I'm feeling fine, as the morning went on I felt better and better. I'll see what happens today and if it's still bad I'll call tomorrow.
Oh as for the dumping the sharp pain in my side and then is what happens, my nut said that is dumping....at least for me....not a good feeling at all but at least I know what it is.
thanks again
Michelle
Called the surgeon, after speaking with him in depth about this and what has been going on in the family (others are sick too) he's thinking it is a stomach bug, he suggested that I keep with soft foods and if there is more of a problem either call or go to ER. He isn't a big proponent of liquid diet, in fact after day three of surgery we were on a soft diet.
thanks for all your support as always
Michelle
michelle,
I know you've already talked to your surgeon but I just thought I'd let you know that I've totally experienced what you are talking about. I will be able to eat something one day and the next it will make me feel miserable then I'm fine with it again a few days later. Chicken especially is the one that I have the most problems with being on again off again. Also the protien shakes...I drink the same one everyday and sometimes I just can't handle it. Usually for that if I don't force the issue and wait several hours I can drink it fine later.
I ate too fast the other day for the first time, just because I wasn't paying attention (eating while driving) and boy it hurt like crazy after about the 4th bite. That took about 45 minutes to go away and I will definitely make sure that I don't do that again.
Whenever I get that nasty feeling I find if I drink as much water as possible I feel better much more quickly.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Whatever it was has passed. After my morning cup of hot tea I felt alot better and was able to eat as normally as possibly on soft foods the rest of the day, I'm going to continue on them today, dh is also feeling a bit better but he's still in the bathroom alot I think we all picked up a bug somewhere.
thanks for your support
