Laura, I'm curious..what went wrong with the RNY? How did you know something was wrong?
Lets see after about a year and a half i started to gain about 5 pounds a month ...So finally once i had insurance i went and got scoped and found out the stoma or the opening from the pouch to the upper GI was wide open ...so my pouch was not holding a thing ...So i never felt full and eveything was going straight to my upper GI so not good .....so the best way i could think of to get that restriction back was to get a band put on ...and that is helping some ....so far i still dont like all the fills and all you have to get before you start loseing in a way ...but you got to do waht you got to do .....

Laura, I know I seem very nosey...but the RNY not working is always a great fear of mine. I hope you don't mind the personal questions. Were they able to tell you why your stoma was so open? Did it seem like you were able to eat alot post-surgery or was your first clue when you started gaining weight at one year post-op? The reason I am concerned is that it seems that I can eat and drink too easily. I'm not one of those people who can stop after one tablespoon because "they are just too full". I'm 7 weeks post op and still on soft foods. Maybe when I progress to regular it will be different. I agree with everyone else. It's great that you didn't let this defeat you and you kept trying. I wish you much success!

Well i only had 100 pounds to lose to begin with so the first year i only lost about 60 pouds and that was average for what i had to lose but i lost that in about 8 months and then lost nothing again and i started to gain at about a year and three quarters so almost two years .....well i just figered it was me ...not eating right or soemthing ...When i finally went and got scooped ( i could eat anything and as much as i wanted i am tlaking almost more than before surgery) and i was never full ever .....well they could not tell me what caused this but after some research i found about 5 other people that had my surgon and haveing the same problem and had surgery at the same time as me ....so i think it was somethign that surgon did at that time and the head of the practice would not do anything to fix it ...So i was left to go to Mexico and get it fixed and pay out of pocket ....so that sucked but i hope it works ...
Please do not think i am putting down RNY i would have it all over again but with a different surgon
