No. I was warned by another not to do it no matter how bad you want a diet coke! (Still craving them!) She said it was the very worst pain she ever had. That was enough for me!

I heard that we should never have carbonated beverages--that there is enough carbonation in a can of coke to fill a helium balloon. It can stretch your pouch.

No way...I've heard way too many precautions against it. Biggest one being that it will stretch your new tummy out which we definately don't need. Next one being that it will just be super uncomforatable. I can't stand it when I accidentally swallow a little air I can't imagine actually drinking air on purpose. Carbonated beverages was one of the things I said goodbye to forever before surgery. I do miss it occasionally but not enough to actually try it. Corinna Q

Exactly, that was a tough thing to say goodbye to since I love my diet coke, but I just look at it like a small price to pay for the new me to be born . Also, in addition to stretching out the pouch even years down the road... the number one thing now while we're all still healing inside is that it can cause the stomach where the staples were inserted to tear causing leaks. Very very dangerous.

Not that I like any form of diet sodas, my nut. said we could have some if we let it go flat. I gave up sodas also after surgery, but whats the use if it's flat...YUCK
