My doctor's protocol still requires that I be on "soft" foods. No salad for me yet. I think I get to move to regular foods at 9 weeks post-op.
what kind of surgery did you have? I read all the others & feel like total crap b/c they are losing SO much weight & I am not even close to what they are losing. I had the gastric banding, but it is not adjustable. I can eat anything that I want now...just not alot of it. I started at 243.5 on 11/7...had the surg on 11/8 & now i weigh 226.8. THats horrible compaired to some of the others....
I crave salad too!!! One thing I have noticed... if you put ham or turkey on your salads, you might want to go to the deli @ the grocery store & have them slice it for you fresh. THere is so much more sodium in the pre packaged lunch meats. I had a prob w/ swelling & switched & havent seen the fluid since!

Hi Conni,
I had a mini-gastric bypass. It makes a small tube of your stomach and hooks that into the intestine down 6 feet. So I had 6 feet bypassed.
We (MGBer's) seem to have a totally different protocol with foods. We NEED the extra salt. Especially early on after our surgery, so the extra salt in the pre-packaged meats is actually good for me now.
Have you asked your dr. if you can include salads in your diet? I know with me, we needed to avoid cruciferous vegetables in the beginning because they are harder to digest. But the salad has been fine.
I am also not losing that fast. I'm 7 weeks out today and I'm still only down 30 lbs. I've been stalled for nearly a week.
Is the gastric banding you had done up high on the stomach? My brother had that done years ago to help him with his acid reflux. It was not done as a weight loss surgery, but it sure helped him. I guess I'm just not that familiar with your procedure.
Hang in there. It WILL come off. Just keep eating right, drink enough and exercise.
