Hey everyone, this is my 1st post on this site. I am 7 weeks post op today. I had the non-adjustable gastric banding. I started at 243.5 & today I am around 215-220 depending on whose scales I am on. My surgery is a little different than the lap-band or the RNY. I can pretty much eat what I want...with a few exceptions. I can't eat bread, anything cooked with ground beef, rice or milk. Everything else is ok. I was reading on here that people nibble on things. I am SO fond of sugar free popsicles, I usually eat a box a week. I start the day with an omlette with 2% cheese, fat free sour cream, & deli-turkey meat (less sodium). I usually walk on my treadmill at lunchtime. Then I eat a salad with the cheese turkey & light ranch. Supper is usually chicken breasts. My big thing is eating out. I am in nursing school, & although I am on break right now my husband LOVES to take me out to eat on weekends. That is tough. I usually stick to the salads & stuff like that. What is different about mine is that we have to really watch the liquid intake. 3-4 oz/hr. Thats not much at all. Before surg. I drank alot of cokes & water too. My biggest prob right now is that I eat supper around 6pm & I am hungary @ 9 & 10pm. I usually eat popsicles, but still. Any suggestions? Conni Cole

Hi Conni and welcome to the Nov. board. It is a bit slow right now because of the holidays, but I am sure the posts will pick up after everything settles down. WE have a great bunch here, you will like it. Sorry but I can't help you with your snacks at the end of the day... I do the same thing, I love my popsicles. Well, congrats on your surgery! Hope to see more posts from you and hear more about your surgery, it sounds interesting how different it is. Good Luck. Shawn M.

Welcome Connie. I agree that eating out is tough. When I do, I don't lose weight even though I try to be careful. Why does your diet restric****er to 3-4 ounces per hour? Did they explain the reason?

Hi Connie - for your after dinner snack, try S/F pudding with a scoop of protien powder added to it. The protien will keep you fuller longer.

THey told me the difference is that the rny is absorption & the banding is restrictive. the dr told me that if i drank too much the oouch would balloon over & become thin & flimsy.
