Protein Bars
Is anyone eating protein bars to help with their protein intake? I just about can't stand any more of the powdered protein mixed with water, milk, diet V8 Splash, etc. seems no matter what I mix the powder with I can smell it and it just turns my stomach. I need to get more protein in but I don't want it in a liquid form. Any ideas?
What are the guidelines of the bars that we should go by? I think Adkins may make some that aren't too bad.

I had the same problem .. until someone introduced me to Isopue (pre mixed) It is kind of like a gatorade kind of drink. They seel tem at GNC. 1 20 ounce bottle has 40 grams of protein. I mix mine 1/2 & 1/2 with 4c decaf - SF iced tea - and rink it throughout the day. It helped me I hope it helps you.
Happy holidays,

Hi Regina,
I put the "ANY Whey" unflavored protein powder from GNC in my Weight Control Oatmeal and use milk to make the oatmeal. So that is 8 GMs protein for milk, or 6 if you use less milk, 6 gms protein for the oatmeal, and 8 gms protein for protein powder using 1/2 scoop. I drink decaf coffee in the morning and make it strong and then put 1/2 cup nonfatdry milk in it for 8 gms protein. Some mornings make Nestles Quick NAS hot cocoa, with milk then add Matrix Chocolate protein powder to it, 1/2 scoop for 20 gms protein counting the milk. The Matrix mixes well if you use a little cold water to mix it into a paste first then mix with the hot cocoa. I use a protein called Nectar which mixes in cold water o rcrystal light and I have tried flavors called, lemonade, lemontea, and cherry Cherry. I like the Cherry Cherry mixed with Crystal Lite Lemonade flavor, for 23 gmsprotein. I order the Matrix and Nectar proteins from Bariatric Advantage.
3 oz tuna, salmon, chicken, or turkey has 20 gms protein ormore per serving. I also add the non flavored protein to soup.
If you do make a protein Shake, make it with skim milk plus 1/2 cup non fat dry milk, for16 gms protein, then add the protein powder to get at least double that amount of protein.
Hope this helps.
FYI, regarding protein bars look at BariatricAdvantage.com. Susan Marie has bars, powders, lots of stuff. I ordered a sampler pack of bars pre op and they were all good.

Hello, I just asked my friend this & here is what she takes:
from Publix...
PURE PROTEIN, High Protein Double Layer Bar S'mores Flavor
1 Bar (50g), Calories 180, Fat 5g, Net Carbs 3g, Protein 19 g, Sugars 0g, but Sugar Alcohol 13g..(some people still dump on the sugar alcohol)...
I use this not as a snack, but as a meal replacement in a pinch if I am running late or if we are out running errands during meal time, or if my pouch is angry from something that was rough on it...probably about 4 times a week total...I buy them for 4 for 5.00
Well, that's what works for me... the website is
www.americasproteinbar.com
I'm going to Publix to get some today.
I agree on the protein powders. I just couldn't stand them. I like the New Whey liquid protein. It comes in 3 oz. vials which have 42 grams of protein. They are kind of syrupy if you drink them straight. I mix them with Crystal Light tea or lemonade and they are good. ( A little on the expensive side however.)
