Hi everyone! I'm 2 1/2 weeks out of my very slow recovery. Still having back and shoulder pain and just slow going. Eating is going well. The vitamins have given me diarhea the past two days but I think its because I took them without food. Also I have run out of ideas for breakfast. I am spposed to be on soft foods and the only breakfast protein i can think of is egg. What is everyone else doing for breakfast? Also are you guys eating soups and if so how much at a time and what kind? im just not real sure and I know I'll have more questions to come. Hope everyone is doing good! I'm down 17 pounds so far so I'm on the right track. Happy Holidays! Hugs, Bonnie

Hi Bonnie, congrats on the 17 pounds! I know how good that feels. I am one month out, and just started on soft foods this week. I have had cottage cheese & unsweetened applesauce, string cheese, and cream of wheat cereal for breakfast. Also for the past couple of mornings I had a small amt. of Wheaties with milk, not because they are nutritious, but because they were a part of my old routine. Because I'm not supposed to have liquids with my meal, I just had the cereal (with milk on it) and left the milk behind for a little later. I now have come to my senses, and accepted that I can't waste valuable food space or time with poor nutritional choices, and it's back to protein in the morning for me. Besides, having Wheaties in the morning wasn't as wonderful as I remembered. I'm looking forward to reading other posts about breakfast suggestions. Linda

Hi Bonnie, Congradulation on your weight lose, isnt it just great. I have 2oz of egg beaters and in that I got whole egg white protein at Albertsons and I mix 2 teaspoons of that with 2 tablespoons of skim milk and make scambled eggs and it ups my protein with the egg beater mix, I think it ups it to 9 or 10 grams of protein, then I put a tablespoon of shreaded cheese on top of the eggs and it is sooooooo good. In my oats I also put in about 1/2 scoop of unflavored whey protein powder, that also ups my protein, and I cook my Weight Control Oats, by Quaker, with skim milk instead of water, that also ups your protein. These oats have 7 grams of protein, but I can only eat about half and save the other half for later. You are suppose to have your oats a little watery so they go down smoother. I am six weeks out and have lost 22lbs. I also put in my protein drink a scoop of unflavored whey protein, instead of having just 15 grams of protein in the atkins advantage, by putting the scoop in there I now have 36, so it sure ups your protein, I am still on soft foods as well and I only have 3 0z at a time of anything. I dont know what else to have for breakfast except cottage cheese, yogurt, lite of course. Hope you get more help than I can give you, so I too can look in. Chrisy

Hi Bonnie, I went back to sum papers my nut gave me and this is whats on there for soft foods... egg, bites of oatmeal/cream of wheat, bites of banana ( if room ).... low fat cottage cheese, light string cheese, light yogurt...thats about all I see for breakfast, unless you dont mind tuna or chicken in the morning. Hope that helps a little. You're doing great Bonnie Huggs & Blessings, Lori

Try NF/SF yougurt with vanilla extract or other flavorings, ricotta with SF jam topping, chocolate protien powder mixed in cream of wheat or cream of rice or thin oatmeal. I still have a protein shake more often than not just because it is conveinant and jump starts my protein count for the day. I pureed soups when I was on the full liquid phase post-op. My doc's protocol doesn't allow soft foods until one month post-op. By the time I got to soft foods, I never wanted to see soup again. I would think that you could have cream soups or soups with soft vegtables..no rice or pasta...probably best to avoid chucks of beef for now. Congrats on your weight loss. You are doing great.

Bonnie, Congrats on the 17 pounds... you are doing a great job.... I usually have eggs or yogurt for breakfast. I am a slightly picky eater, so I don't have a lot of variety to offer you, sorry. But congrats again.. and WTG!!! Shawn M.

Marie, I make my own protein shakes with whey protein powder and fruit. Its not horrible but I'm not loving it either. I can eat pretty good but chicken also gave me trouble. I had chest pains after eating it. I've been eating turkey constantly. Congrats on your loss thus far and for the future loss! Keep me posted my surgery sis! hugs, Bonnie
