Had my (almost) one month follow-up on Monday, it was actually 3 days early and I was down 26 lbs. from surgery and 36 total. I am not longer morbidly obese........They even said I could start moving back to regular foods with limitations. I am not pushing this though, I am fine with the soft foods!!!! Knocking on wood..... I have not been sick yet!! I sure hope it stays that way. I had enough sick stomach before surgery, I was hoping this would go away after. So far, so good.... I just need to get off my duff now and start exercising. How is everyone else doing with food????

Hi Christy! I had my one month follow-up appointment today, and am also down 26 pounds since surgery. I was just put on soft foods today, and can't tell you how excited I am to be able to have 6 saltine crackers, and to actually chew food. I was getting very tired of pureeing things, and they no longer tasted that great that way. I have not had any problems with nausea or dumping. I am working on increasing my endurance--I have gone from walking 3 houses (to and from) to 10 houses. I will resume my water aerobics classes in January, I love the water, and the feeling of being weightless. I had a light bulb moment the other day when I realized that I loved my sedentary life style as much as I had loved all the foods I over ate. I had plenty of opportunity to learn to accept that I needed to change what I ate. Now I need to let go of wanting to be inactive. I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone else, but it really spoke to me. Anyway, include me in the "so far, so good" club. Linda

It is 5 weeks today for me. I have been having saltine crackers with a thin slice of alpine lace cheese and it tastes so good/

I am eating semi-soft things now. I've tried a few chewy things, but been really careful with chewing thoroughly. Last night I had some chicken, and I couldn't get more than a couple of bites down. I really wanted my salad too, but couldn't. I have been having things like refried beans. And I tried a small burrito. I couldn't fini**** But everything has been going down ok. No dumping. I just get a feeling in my throat like the food is backed up to there. I'm quite amazed at the variety of things I can eat now. I really crave the proteins, meats and cheeses. Yum! I did try a couple of sips of milk the other day and ended up with horrible gas. I guess milk will be a no-go. I might try some Lactaid first. I really miss the taste of ice cold milk. Congrats on your weight loss! I have my one month check up tomorrow. I'll post the results.
