What are you eating?

I'm 3 wks & 2 days out, and on pureed foods. Yesterday was the first day I got my 60 gms of protein in, and am still struggling to get 64 oz. fluids in. A week ago scrambled eggs didn't sit very well (I think I ate them too fast, but they tasted so good!) but I can tolerate them much better now. Also, tuna with low fat miracle whip and pureed beef barley soup didn't sit well either. I'm hoping to advance to a soft diet next Wed. after my 4 wk MD appt.

I found something that I really like...part skim ricotta drizzled with SF vanilla syrup...topped with SF seedless blackberry jam. Very good!

1. 4 weeks and a day 2. pureed foods for three more weeks (7 weeks total). Everything listed I pureed unless it comes that way. Hummus, black forest ham, tuna salad, egg drop soup (just drizzle egg into boiling broth), cream of wheat, quaker's weight control oatmeal because it has more protien in it, I use frozen berries in my protien shakes, refried beans, cheese, small amounts of cream cheese or sour cream with certain items. I think that's about it. Unfortunately at my four week post op appt my Dr said he wanted me getting 80 grams of protien and said he'd rather me drink protien shakes than eat because the amount of protien you get from the small amounts we can eat isn't worth filling up the stomach for. 3. I go back an forth, but scrambled eggs (that I didn't puree) I ate a few bites and knew it wasn't going to work. I started not being able to do refried beans even though they had been fine before, peanut butter (even low carb), and I think I'm getting lactose intolerant but I'll experiement a little more because it really ups my protien intake with my shakes if I mix it with milk instead of water. This was great reading everyone elses posts...thanks for introducing the topic. Corinna Q

Hello - good questions - 1. It'll be 4 weeks on Tuesday 12-12 2. Mostly pureed foods or soft foods. I have had some meats that weren't pureed and chewed well. 3. I went to IHOP with my husband. I ordered scrambled egg beaters and corned beef ha****ook the rest home after eating about 3 oz of the corned beef hash, and about 2 oz of the eggs. For dinner I had another 3 oz of the hash, and 1 oz of the eggs, and then for the next few days I thought I was going to die. Although the corned beef hash was very well chopped, not too greasy, and really good, I think eating it twice in the same day just upset my tummy a little too much. Hey everyone! 1) 11/20/06 - 3 weeks post op It always bugs me when I see the diets that other docs keep their patients on. Then again, I've always been a natural fast healer, my incision's are almost gone. 2) At my 1 week, my doctor said I was doing so well he cleared me to try whatever I wanted, in small bites to make sure it settled well and stayed down. Since then, I've had just about everything under the sun. Oatmeal, steak, chicken, shrimp (hehe, my gf and I went to Red Lobster yesterday), beans, split pea soup, matzo crackers, pizza, etc... 3) Nothing has bothered me as of yet. Only had one episode of vomiting but that was because I ate too fast and I knew it once I did. Hasn't happened since. Good luck to you all!

1. 10 days out 2. Full liquids started 2 days ago. 3. milk, which I know I'm not supposed drink, but I mixed in a teaspoon with some refried beans in the blender, and got bloated and had some diarrhea. I'm finding though that I can eat these wonderful tasting puddings which are sugar free and 60 calories, and you can't tell the diffference. I can also eat yogart and cottage cheese and jack cheese melted, but only a small amount, because bloating happens again.
