Check in -- how is everyone?
So we're between one (that would be me) and five weeks out. How is everyone doing?
Me, I'm just starting full liquids, and I'm physically feeling fine. Not much weight lost, but then again, I had the band and that's normal for us. What's amazing to me is that that "gotta eat, gotta eat, gotta eat" voice in the back of my head is considerably muted. I've had a blissful week of not struggling. It's glorious.
So how are you doing? Fill us in!
Donna B.
Hi Donna,
I am doing great! Woke up this morning and met my first goal of down 20 lbs! I am starting to eat some normal food. Not much, but the variety sure helps. I had part of a veggie quesadilla last night and that was yummy! I've also had meat and cheese taco salad that was delicious. Haven't tried chicken, steak or fish yet. I'd like to try fish soon.
Isn't that great that the voice is not nagging in your head to eat? I've found that I need to remember to eat!

This is my "week 3" and I am doing great! Best of all... I'm down 30 lbs!! (now before everyone gets excited) that's counting from October 31 (the day I started my 2 week pre-surgery liquid diet...) but... from my perspective, it's all weight I've lost, so I'm counting it all!
I have to say the first week and 1/2 were pretty hard for me, everyone was talking about having all kinds of energy and feeling great and I felt like crap! But, I've since returned to work and am now feeling great! My 8 little incisions are almost completely healed (I have 8 because they had to do an unexpected gallbladder removal too).
I can eat anything I want (or can tolerate) and I can tell you that Jello will NOT be on any menus anytime soon!
Anyway, just "checking in"!
Marilyn
I am down 31lbs from fasting two weeks before. I am still working on moving on to regular food. I am still eating soft food. I think because I ate eggs and they got stuck and I had to make myself TU to make it feel better. Am I being sensitive...Should I just go for it?
I feel fantastic otherwise, all my incisions are healed. And besides a cold I caught at work..I feel WONDERFUL.
Hi all!
I am 4 weeks out down 21.5 pounds and 10.5 inches
I go back to the surgeon on 12/14 that is when I will go onto solid foods.
I am starting the gym 12/18 (an early Christmas present from hubby)
I have gotten sick a few time not fun ... but I guess it happens.
I finally found a protein drink that I enjoy. Isopure (ready to drink) 1 20 ounce bottle has 40 gram is protein. I mix it 1/2 & 1/2 with crystal light and drink it throughout the day.
I am battling head hunger at times -
Feeling great - I just wish the scale would move a little fast ... don't we all?
Sounds like you are all doing great!
Congrats,
Britt
Hi there!
I'm 3 weeks and 2 days post-op; I'm down 30 lbs.
My energy levels are fine. I'm getting to the gym nearly everyday. If I'm not at the gym, I get a 30 minute walk in.
I'm still on full liquids and will remain there until the 28th. It hasn't been difficult -- and the best thing is, I don't even think about food! I've had virtually no pain or complications. Sometimes I wonder if anything was done! LOL
I'm glad to read that everyone is doing so well!

Hi,
I am down 20 pounds in 17 days. I got food stuck last night and thought I was going to die. It SCARED the **** out of me and hurt BADDDD. I never want to see food again!! I tried putting my head between my legs and lying on my side those hurt worse than standing straight up. I finally started frothing and it passed.
Boy, I will never do that again. Smaller bites and chew chew chew.
Hi --
I'm over 3 weeks out, and this last week has been the worse. Nausea, diahrrea, not wanting to eat, and just plain fatigued and sleeping a lot. I have lost a total of 32# since Oct. 4 (month & 1/2 prior to surgery on 11-21-06). I'm having a hard/difficult time getting all my water in and I guess, enough protein. This next week I can start solid foods, but sometimes I don't feel like I want to move to anything bigger bite than my pureed foods.
All my incisions, except for one, have healed very nicely. I'm not in a lot of pain, regarding my stomach. I do get car sick easily though.
Plus, I've a rash in my groin area since coming home from the hospital - how weird is that (nothing alleviates the pain and itching). I see my regular doctor on Monday - hopefully she can diagnose this and maybe give me some type of steroid or cortisone shot to help it heal up.
Wishing you well in your journey,
Tracey B in LV
