Welcome! I think what you are experiencing is similar to the rest of us... The loss of interest in actual eating. I found SF Carnation instant breakfast and 1 scoop of unflavored whey protien powder mixed w/10oz of skim milk helps me get in my protien... I couldnt tolorate any of the premade shakes such as slimfast or atkins after my surgery. The taste made me gag. (Which is funny since I used to drink them prior to surgery)

I went to Walmart and bought their tub of protein powder for $15 maybe. It has 23 grams of protein and mixes with 1 cup of milk which is 6 or 7 grams of protein. I use that and the rest of my foods to make sure that I am at 50 grams of protein a day. 343.6/327.6/140

What is the name of the protein powder from Walmart, does it taste? I like the idea of putting something unflavored in the Carnation IB. Kolleen RNY 11-27-06 366/357/165

I think it is called maximum fortress. I think it comes in chocolate and vanilla. I think they all taste about the same. I like it so far and I add peanut butter to the chocolate even, which adds more protein to it. My husband will not let me get protein from online, not even the unflavored which I would like to try at some point. I think he will change his mind in a little while. I will have to have some sort of variety or I know I will get bored. RNY 11/8/06 343/326/140

There is another good tasteless protein powder that you can use in your foods, called Beneprotein. I find it at Walgreens, as well as Amazon.com. You can get it in easy-to-take-with-you packets or in a container you can scoop from. It melts best in hot foods. Donna ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Lap RNY 11/15/06 304/274/146

Brie, Welcome! Congrats on your surgery and your wonderful weight loss. Take it a day at a time and work each day toward getting a little more in ... you will get there! I had to search and search to find a protein drink I liked. At 3 weeks out I found 1 Isopure (ready to drink) Sort of like Gatorade - 1 20ounce bottle has 40 grams of protien. I drink it throughout the day 1/2 Isopure with 1/2 Crystal light Iced tea (yummy). I am dealing with "head" hunger too. Its not easy when you take 3 bites and you are full and your brain is saying "thats it? Come on ... are you kidding???" ... lol hugs, Britt

I bought a case 12 - 20 ounce bottles for $36.00 They are called Isopure - 40 grams of protein in each bottle. They are not by Gatorade - I was just using that as an example - to explain what type of drink they were. I got mine at GNC they seemed to be the cheapest. you can but individual bottles there to try it first to make sure YOU like it. I mix mine 1/2 & 1/2 with crystal light iced tea.
