3 weeks out
Well, I've passed my 3 week mark. I went back to work this week and it was MUCH harder than I thought it would be. Happily I've got a lot of flexibility and can come and go as I need. It did get better each day but that first day was a killer. I found it hard to keep up on the protien and eating. I'm still really never hungry and when I'm working it's even harder to remember to make myself eat something. Even working in a restaurant with awesome food going by all the time I just don't think of it. It's really quite bizarre to me since I've NEVER forgotten to eat before in my life Water is easier though for some reason because everytime I go by the service stations I can fill my glass with more ice and water so it's always fresh and cold (cold is essential for me these days). I did have an episode of nausea due to smells. Our chef had made everyone these amazing meatball sandwiches and normally I'm sure they would have smelled great but I literally couldn't stand to be anywhere near one because of the smell. It was weird. I'm down 17 pounds since surgery. I thought it would be going quicker but every little bit is great so I'm not complaining too much I'm going to try to get into the gym this week and start working out a little so that should help move things along too.
Well, I think that's it for now. Hope everyone is doing well!

Corinna, You are doing great. I will be three weeks post-op tomorrow. My surgeon doesn't allow us to have soft foods until five weeks post op. Also we have to keep a G-tube in for six weeks. I read your profile. I had the same self-pay fears of uncovered complication expenses. Sounds as if you are recovering well though. I am too. I'm sure we made the right decision to plunge ahead instead of waiting around for insurance. Don't worry about only losing 17 pounds since surgery--I'm only down 11 pounds since my surgery. We will get to our goal soon and some day we won't even remember this frustration.
You are doing great. Take your time getting back into work, it will feel Ok pretty soon. At three weeks I was down 16 pounds, so we are about the same. My surgeon said that was great and things looked good for me. I have moved onto soft foods and have had a few troubles with a couple of things, but I know to avoid them now. Good luck. Hang in there, it will get easier.
I think you are doing great. I just passed the 3 week mark, and I am so tired all the time. I walk on the treadmill for 10 minutes and I am ready to collapse. I have lost 25 pounds, but I was sick for about a week, so I couldn't eat. Now I am on soft food and trying to get some strength back. I heard ot takes awhile. It sounds like you are pretty strong, just hang in there!!
