Overate last night

I am just over 2 weeks out and was moved to "pureed" foods on Tuesday (Yay for refried beans!!!) But... last night I must have eaten just a tad too much and I had a HORRIBLE time! It felt like there was a vice-grip in my chest for a good 1/2 hour and then (as hard as I tried not to) I threw up (which by the way, was NOTHING like throwing up with the old stomach). That made me feel better but not quite back to normal. I still had some pain/discomfort when I went to bed. This morning I have kind of a "bruised" feeling but at least the pain is gone. Now when I say I overate... I'm talking about the difference of 2 or 3 bites, not 1/2 a pizza! Have any of you had this experience yet? I hope not, but had to ask! Marilyn

I have not dealt with that yet, but I move to pureed foods after I see my doc today... I just hope I don't experience it.. it definitely does not sound fun.... I will be sure to be careful when I dive into my pate' tonight..... I can't wait..... LOL..... Shawn M.

M, I've had two instances of extreme nausea. I think the first was a combination of one too many bites and too much fat and the second time I have no idea what caused it because it was the same protien drink I've been using all along...maybe too much air. But I was pretty miserable for about an hour. I didn't throw up, thank goodness, but I almost wanted too because I felt so crappy. But I did get woken up in the middle of the night with an extreme need to use the toilet. I think we'll all experience some form of this as we learn what our bodies will tolerate now. I tried a scrambled/pureed egg this morning ate about 4 bites and knew that if I ate the rest I was going to regret it...so no eggs for me yet. It's all trial and error. Eating slow seems to have the best result because you can figure out if your stomach is going to handle something long before you finish and perhaps can stop before it gets too bad. Good luck! I've heard people saying things (like protein drinks) that they do just fine with suddenly turn on them with no warning! (sometimes a year or two after the fact!) That's kind of scary, you never know when it's going to hit you (of course, many things never will). Thanks! Marilyn

I think I may have done it once, but it wasn't that bad. I could feel some pressure in my upper chest so I just stopped. Sometimes it's so hard to know because being full doesn't feel the same way. I just try to eat slow and listen to my body. I had refried beans with cheese 2 nights ago. And last night it was just some cottage cheese and a piece of sharp cheddar cheese. I think I ate over 1/2 c. of cottage cheese and about 1 oz. of the hard cheese. The only thing I've been experiencing is gas. All the time. I think I will try some Gas-X or maybe Beano before I eat.

Hi Marilyn, i know excatly how you felt . After 3 weeks they said i could have puree/ground.i ate what i thought was a tiny bit of chicken and about 1 teaspoon of mashed potatoe. i had the worse pains in my stomach and chest for about 2 1/2 hours. of course i did what they said not to do and drink a sip of water to see if that would help, that came right back up . like you i finally threw up . i have found now a few things i can tolerate, but i am finding i should wait 10-15 mins to feel that im full. i found the 1-2 small extra bites can make a big difference. take care deb

Yes, that was exactly it! Horrible chest/stomach pains... I also tried some water hoping to help wash stuff down, I'm still not sure if that helped or not... others have said NO - it's like pouring water into a clogged drain, but someone else said YES - it helps to loosen stuff up because the water works it's way to the bottom, so I guess it's just one more thing that you have to figure out if it works for your own body or not! Thanks! Marilyn

I have just had the same thing happen. Bad chest pain from a casserole dish that I used to love, but not anymore. It bothered me a tiny bit last night so I tried some warmed up and it did not go over well at all. I did not throw up, but it felt like I was going to. Tonight I tried something else and got the same reaction, bad chest pains or heart burn. I think I will go back to soups for a little while and then try again. I am 22 days out!!
