I'm so glad to see this thread! I am so tired of reading about all these people who lost up to twenty pounds by their first pre-op visit. I had only lost three pounds at mine. In the 2.5 weeks since surgery I have only lost 9 pounds. I lost during the pre-op diet though, so I try to concentrate on having lost a total of 21.5 for the month instead of the small amount since surgery. I know it will come. So many of us think that we will be the only one that the surgery won't work on. It will work for us! Hang in there. I just keep thinking that after the G-Tube comes out, that's when my journey truly begins. I will move around more and probably start exercising again. Our time is coming.
I agree with everyone else that post to your question, I too lost 20lbs in 15 days but I have not weighed since then, I feel like I have not lost any, my clothes are bigger on me. I drink all my protein and water for the day and I am still on liquids until the 5th. I just feel like I am going to be in the % that does not do good with the RNY. But I will not give up hope on this!! I am going to weigh myself on Sat. and see how I really am doing, in the mean time I will keep all of us in my prayers that we will catch up and then wonder where it all went.
I too had only lost 15 pounds at two weeks and was annoyed...then I started thinking about it and thought...sheesh...I lost 15 pounds in two weeks. When have I ever been able to do that? So I'm trying desperately to stay off the darn scale because it's easy to start obsessing about it. I think everyone is different. Plus keep in mind that many people who have lost a huge amount in the first two or three weeks probably didn't diet prior to surgery like you and I did. And you know how easily those first 10 to 15 pounds come off (at least for me) so they are just catching up. I keep reminding myself of the fact that I've actually lost almost 50 pounds since August when I went for my initial surgeon's visit and that's a pretty darn good thing!!!
Anyway as you can see many of us are losing just about the same and I don't think we're doing anything wrong or that the surgery isn't going to work for us. So keep up the GREAT work and praise yourself for every little bit you lose because it means you're heading toward your goal.

Hi! I am 16 days post op and have lost 14 pounds. I also lost 34 pounds before surgery so I feel like I had already lost the easy pounds of first weightloss. It also took me a full week to lose the water weight from the fluids in the hospital. Remember as well that some have lots more to lose and it comes off faster for them. Over all I think we are doing just fine!

Well I am 1 week out yesterday and I GAINED a few ponds!! Imagine my disappointment. I gained 17 lbs of fluid in hospital and was like a balloon. I took a fluid pill this morning so hope that works. Was told no proteins yet till 2 weeks out. And my doctor said a funny thing to me at the last visit preop. He said to remember that I will lose some hair but to limit my proteins. He said I will lose much more weight and faster if I limit the protein levels. Guess I am going to ask my dietician a lot of questions about that next week. Just on clear liquids still. I am not hungey at all. Just SORE.....Good luck. Kathy
