3 week update
Hi everyone-
Just wanted to give a 3 week update. I have no pain or soreness and finally am sleeping through the night in my own bed! Still on liquids until Wednesday when I will move to purees-yipee! Energy is good though still wanting a nap each day. And....drum roll please, I have lost 22 pounds!! This feels like magic, I am never hungry and feel great!
Any pureed ideas are appreciated! Joy
Congrats Joy!!!! sounds like you are doing wonderfully! Glad to hear that things are going so well for you.... I know what you mean about needing some ideas... I getting so bored with the same foods on the full liquids, I can't wait till I progress up on Thursday..... It is all worth it though....

Joy,
Congrats on the great progress. Here are some ideas that I've enjoyed with pureed foods. My surgeon had filled my head with protien, protien protien so I try to stay away from most carbs.
Refried beans with a little melted chedder and sour cream
Pumpkin pie minus the crust (basically pumpkin custard). If you just use the standard recipe but substitute splenda for the sugar it's fairly low in carbs and amazingly high in protien...even the pumpkin has quite a bit of protien
Hummus with pureed black forest ham
Cream of wheat with milk
I tried pate but it's too fatty and didn't agree w/ my stomach
Cottage cheese which I don't actually puree but make sure to chew to a paste before I swallow it.
Shocked me but jello actually has a gram of protien...in fact that is it's only nutritional value and I enjoy it for something different.
And sugar free pudding although I'm not so much into that because it's sweet and I get too much of the sweet taste from the protien drinks.
Chef boyardi (I don't think I spelled that right) has the little single servings (7.25 oz) of spaghetti and meat balls or ravioli that both have 8 grams of protien and happily I can split it into two servings and not have it sitting in my fridge for days...and days...and days...anyway, they are higher in carbs of course but not too bad.
Well, hope that helps. I'm pretty happy with my little pureed meals and in fact have to make myself eat them because like you I'm never hungry. But it's nice to have different flavors in your mouth. The biggest challenge is the fact that everything lasts SO long and you get a little tired of eating the same stuff but feel bad making something new when you've got so much sitting in the fridge still.
Good luck
