Pureed foods...
Hi Sophia, Shawn, and Denise,
Glad you ladies are doing so well. I was reading Sophia's post and all I know is that my surgeon does a 3 oz pouch. Maybe you should check what the size of your pouch is...so you don't overdo it and throw up. The nut told me our stomach is approx i liter like 32 oz and reduced to three oz after surgery. ..so if yours is also three oz then 4 oz is too much. Heres another perspective. I made a carrot cake from scratch for thanksgiving. the carrot part called for two 6 oz jars of stage 3 baby carrots.( like Gerber baby food brand)
The jars are 6 oz each. I was amazed to look at the jar and think my new tummy was only going to hold the size of half the contents of that baby food jar....oh my goodness. It was a different perspective of imagining it the size of an egg or a golf ball. Thats what the nut always uses as an example. Imagine that? So iff you think of how much soft food or when getting of regular food, if that food on your new little plate would fit inside of a whole egg shell or a golf ball, that's about the limit the new pouch holds....imagine that?

Cissy,
My surgeon said that to start (due to swelling) my stomach was only 2 oz. however, I progress from 1 oz every 15 min. to 2 oz every 15 min. as I can tolerate. Making 4 oz over a half an hour a good rate to eat. So that is why I said it sounded right.... when eating as slow as we have to, food will digest and empty out to allow for more food over the course of half an hour. That is the way it was explained to me. Same rate goes for the fluids as well. Which is why it is so hard to get everything in that we are supposed to... LOL....
Shawn M.
Shawn,
I now understand. It must be amazing to only eat so little and fill up so fast huh? Thats why I hear people say later on when they drink coffee, they can't even buy a regular size cause it gets cold before they can drink it all. I have to wait to do this myself before I can actually see it for myself.
Glad youre' doing so well!
God bless,
Cissy
Sophia,
I'm eating between 2 and 3 ozs at a time of pureed foods (or about 1/3 of a cup). It takes about 20-30 minutes to eat that. As long as you are not throwing up or feeling sick I would imagine you aren't eating too much. Your body will let you know if you're doing it wrong, especially in these early stages that we are in right now.
