HAVING A VERY HARD TIME SLEEPING
Hi Chrisy,
I, too, was having this very same problem! I could only sleep for about 3 hours at a time! I was told it was because I got so much rest in the hospital and at home, I am just not as active as I was before.
But now (about 10 days postop), I can finally sleep thru the night.
Maybe some Benadryl will help - check with your dr.
Good luck with your sleep!

I had surgery on the 14th and am having a lot of trouble sleeping too. I read in one of my books that sleep disruption after surgery is extremely common and that you will work back into a regular schedule with time... if you are able to get a short nap during the day this might help.. for some reason, naps are really hard for me to take and as a result, I'm walking around all fuzzy-headed...
Can't wait till I feel as good as all the others!

I too read that it was very common to get insomnia after surgery, I sure wish this will pass, I was ready to go to the day after Thanksgiving day shopping at 3:00 in the morning, to bad the stores were not open, because I was ready and awake to go.
Thank you for sharing that I really am not alone in this world.

I agree with Marilyn.... also when we are in the hospital, we are "regularly" disturbed by different things or people. I have found myself waking up at the same times the nurses would come in for vitals, or bloodwork or whatever.... Although, last night I slept pretty good.... it will get better, unfortunately you just have to give it time. Maybe talk to your doctor and he can suggest something to take to help you out. Good Luck....

I, too, am having a really rough time sleeping. Even the sleep aid that the doctor gave me didn't help! My mind keeps reeling about all the things that I can't wait to do and the excitement I feel!! I lay there and watch the clock, or I get up and go to the computer. I did alot of Christmas Shopping!! I just had my surgery 11/20. I do recall that I had the same thing happen to me when I had my gall bladder out a couple years ago. I was unable to sleep for a couple weeks. I hope it passes soon!!
I had my first WOW monent today!! I fit into clothes that were too snug to wear after a week. I can't wait to see what the future has for me!!
Let's all count sheep together tonight!!

Thank you so much for sharing with me, and I come to the computer as well, dont know how to use it real well, but learning,I went shopping too,but really did not find much that I wanted, more or less I went for the thrill of it and for the walking that I got in. I am so very happy to hear about you "WOW" moment, that is just great, I hope to have some of them real soon. I hope all you future dreams come true!!
I am willing to count everybody's sheep if it will help us "get some sleep"

I have learned that it's very common to have trouble sleeping after surgery. I was totally exhausted, but was only able to sleep 2 -3 hours at a time. I was sleepy all of the time.
My doc told me that some people have trouble sleeping after surgery because of the medication/anesthia they use on us.
I felt like the walking dead for about 4 weeks. Sleep is such a wonderful thing!! It will get better.
