slim fast

hi - has anyone tried the slim fast for the 2 week pre-op liquid diet? is that something that would work? and maybe for the post-op surgery diet? i'm just learning and reading the posts - aiming for the lap band surgery. thanks!

Hi Wendy and welcome to the Lap Board. I had mine placed yesterday, and my doctor had me on Optifast. (Which I had to buy from him) Did your doc or nutritionist give you any ideas? I didn't have a choice, but maybe some of the other posters will have some ideas for you. Again welcome and good luck with your decison making process. Denise

Is this the lap board? I am confused.. of course I am in starvation mode and not thinking clearly these days....LOL

I think I just figured something out - I access this board through the lapband portal and I tried to access it from the RNY portal and got to the same place. So I guess I was wrong and this is the board for any Nov. surgery and not a specific type of surgery. Right???? Denise

I did the very same thing and had some interesting communication gaps with a couple of people until we figured it out! LOL!

I had to do 2 weeks of liquids pre (and post) surgery, and was able to drink Slimfast (pre surgery only, it's too sugary for post). If your Nutritionist/Surgeon allows Slimfast, be sure to get the low-carb version as it has 20 grams of protein per can! Marilyn
