Officially 7 days post-op and 19 pounds down!
Hey girlies (no guys here right?? if I missed ya...guys too!)...
Yesterday was the official end of my first week (had surgery on the 13th). It has been crazy...at first it was a little tough but now it's like I've always ate this way. Yesterday I even had an Egg McMuffin! Well, minus one of the muffins and I ate half for breakfast and the other half for lunch...(each half was 150 calories and 8.5 grams of protein) and it was sooooo good. So far I haven't dumped, and I don't plan on wanting to. All days except my first day home I've met my liquid intake requirements (64 ounces), almost meeting my protein (minimum 60, optimum 75~I get about 58 right now) and on the average get about 300-400 calories per day (sad huh?? but I feel so full and I'm almost meeting protein goals so I guess it doesn't matter). I have so much more energy than I did before the surgery and I'm so happy. I couldn't stand the suspense any longer so my official weight loss for the week~~~~19 big pounds!!!! Weighed in on the 13th before surgery at 275, today I am 256 and feeling good. Can't wait till next week! Hope all you post-op ladies are doing well and all you pre-op ladies are getting ready for the wild ride!

Hey Pam...
Congrats on your surgery on the 6th! I'll be rootin for ya! I got apprehensive the days right before surgery and the first few days after. It was the "what did I just do to myself feeling" but once I got home and started to experiment with eating it all fell into place. You'll do perfectly! Keep us updated with your surgery!

Awesome! 19 lbs is terrific! I am 1 day post-op and I got on the scale and show a gain of 5 lbs!!! I'm sure that it is just fluids from the surgery/IV. At least I hope so! Glad to hear you are doing so well. Can't believe you ate an egg mcmuffin! My stomach isn't happy with jello Thanks for sharing your good news! Denise
Hey Denise...
Congrats on the surgery! When I was still in the hospital post-op, they told me everyone gains weight during the first few days because of all the IV fluids and water retention so I didn't bother wanting to weigh myself. On the day I left (two days after surgery) I begged my nurse to let me weigh myself, so she did but gave me a very explicit warning that almost everyone gains weight and not to be upset about it. I ended up weighing 2 pounds than I did on the day of my surgery so I was so thrilled. Don't worry...you'll pee out all that fluid in a day and it'll show! I'm sure I'd be 25 pound heavier then I started off at if I weighed in on the first day post-op...lol.
On my third day out I still couldn't stomach anything but liquids...even jello...I could only take one tiny bite and that was it. I had a lot of soup the first few days home and then I started eating canned tuna and some chicken and I was fine with it so I just followed my doctors orders (eat anything that you can chew to mush with no problem) and I was in a rush that morning so I tried the egg mcmuffin and it went down so easily. Like I said though, I removed one of the muffins and only had half for breakfast. But the way it looks...my doc has a lot more lenient (sp?) rules...I was sent home on mushies (I only had liquids in the hospital). But he has a really long mushie period (6 weeks). And I'm not supposed to have beef during this time. It really really does get better every day...you'll see a big difference every day.

I am...I'm sooo happy but I know it was only because I can do all things through Chris Jesus who strengthens me. And I know that there were some days that I just wanted to say screw it and eat that chocolate that the kids brought in, that was the hardest thing for me....knowing that it's the time that everyone brings junk over because it's the "season"...lol...that was a lot or prayer.
I am so very happy for you that you are doing so very well. I have been told to stay on my liquid diet for 4 weeks, I used to love water and drank lots of it, but this sipping thing is not setting to well with me, so I have diet snapple, crystral light, I never have liked tea or coffee, drink broth though and that counts as water. I am doing great, and want to thank you again for your encouragement. I plan on being on the wild ride for a while
