Am I Normal????
I am 1 week out from surgery today............whooo hoooo hoooo to all us 14er's!!
And my question/problem is this: I feel great! I mean really great.....like if I didn't have these little wounds on my belly and that little bit of soreness I'd swear they forgot to give me the surgery. I am basically taking no pain meds (a splash of Liquid Tylenol maybe 2x a day), have been able to stomach everything I have eaten (which is only food from my approved dr list) and just plain old feel good!! I do feel the food sitting in my stomach after eating, my stomach rumbles something crazy when I eat and I'm not really hungry for the most part. I've also become a really good burper!!
The other women I attended my classes with are all feeling pretty yucky and they are weeks and even months out from me. Several of them had to be admitted back to the hospital as they were so dehydrated. Now believe me I am not wishing any of this on myself but my fear is something bad is still going to happen or that the surgery will not work for me and I can eat as I always did! Silly I know, but does anyone else feel or did they feel this good right from the start???
Thanks for humoring my paranoia......he he he
Melinda
I feel as good as you! I haven't been on pain meds since I left the hospital the day after surgery. I know the feeling of wondering if something bad is going to happen down the road. But I think the further away from surgery we get the better the odds that something won't happen.
I am having no problems with my liquid diet. Everything is going down great. I haven't overdone anything, as far as I can tell.
I say, just keep up the good work and try not to let the wondering bother you. Ya, I know, easier said than done.
Hi Melinda,
I, too, had surgery on the 14th and today I feel WONDERFUL!!!!! This is the best I have felt since before my surgery!!!!
My tummy rumbles too and sometimes it feels like things are moving around by themselves in there! I don't actually get hungry (stomach does not growl) but the temptations and cravings (especially from commercials) is driving me crazy! I've been told that it is my head playing tricks on me!!!
Are you walking a bunch? I've been walking almost 2 miles a day with no problem whatsoever! I thought I may be overdoing it, but I rest when I need to and walk the rest of the time! I think that's why I'm feeling so good!
Keep up the good work, girl!

I feel the same as you do, have not been on pain meds, and if it was not for my incisions, I had to tell my sweetheart that "I dont think they did anything on the inside
there is no pain" he said, he was sure that they did. I too think maybe this is the calm before the storm, but I am 15 days out and still doing great, I get my walk in everyday of 1 to 2 miles and feel wonderful.

Hi everyone........you ladies are getting me so excited. I hope I do just as well as you all are doing.... No pain, how great? I think how healthy you are at surgery has alot to do with how fast you recuperate. The more run down, and sick you feel before surgery the harder it is to heal and feel better sooner. Just my two cents worth.
And hey, let's not ever forget the power of prayer. It changes things. Thank you Kim for starting this prayer chain. It's very considerate of you. Praise God for ALL good things.!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone
Cissy
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I'm glad to know others have felt the same way and that I can still be a success without feeling yucky! I guess I read so many negative things about how crappy people felt after surgery that I just expected to feel lousy too! When I didn't I had to think something must be wrong!!
I think your health before surgery definately has a positive effect on your outcome. I tried to live the last 2 months like I had surgery already.....except for the ice cream he he he......and I do believe it helped!
And I also believe in the power of prayer.....thank you all for those as well!
So all in all I wish all of you with surgeries yet to come as pleasant a journey as I have had!!
Hugs!

Way to go M M!!! I'm really glad you are feeling great! I have good days and tired days but am amazed that surgery was just over a week ago...!
Are you able to eat "real" food yet? I have to be on liquids till my 2 week follow up appointment (then mushies for a week). Can't wait to finally be able to eat something... anything! By next tuesday I'll have been on pure liquids for an entire month and it's getting really old!!!

I am still on what my program calls "full liquids"
This includes cream of soups, yogurts, SF jello, SF pudding, Eggbeaters, cottage cheese and ricotta cheese as well as liquids. I have to stay on this diet until I go for my post-op on the 29th then I will get moved to mushies as well. But I have to stay on mushies for like 2 weeks I believe! I am looking forward to more variety however! Can you eat soups at least???
I do eat a saltine now and then and this afternoon I ate one too quickly and it sorta got stuck........owwwwwiiieeeee!!! I had to walk and sip water and after about 5 minutes it passed. So I guess I did get the correct operation after all.....he he he!!
