Hey Everybody,
sorry for disappearing on you, I have been having a bit of tough time after surgery. the surgery itself went really well, but I had some problems dealing with emotional eating post op and have been 'hiding out' a little.
I will be 3 weeks post op on Wednesday.
I have lost 22lbs so far (since I started my pre-op diet), the weight loss feels surreal at the moment because I don't feel like I am doing anything to 'deserve' it - or I don't feel deprived or overworked or anything else I usually associate with losing (or trying to lose) weight. However, everyone has commented that they can tell I have lost weight. DB says it seems to be coming off everywhere and he points out little things like having less dimples above my knees on my thighs, my mum has commented specifically about my face and neck and stomach. I can't see it yet myself even though my clothes are looser and I fit into clothes that I could not have 3 weeks ago.
I am still having problems with head hunger. I think it still feels very overwhelming even though it has decreased slightly in the last couple of weeks. I have over eaten a few times and vomited (3 times). Its like I have this drive in me that needs to push the envelope and I keep trying to have more mouthfuls after I feel that first twinge - its like I don't believe or cant fathom that, that is all I need or should have at the time. I also tend to eat fast (not like I used to, but I think still too rapidly for my new tummy) and my doc explained that this is why being full is interpreted as pain. So I feel uncomfortable a lot after I have eaten.
I get a stitch in my left side (where my tummy was pulled out) when I drive and when I am sitting for longer than a few hours so work is a little bit ouchy at the moment. I am also quite lethargic.
I havent been tracking my food intake and think that I have been a little slack on the protein intake in the last week or so. I started back at work today, so I think I will be able to combat this by getting back into a regular routine and I will start tracking using fitday.com.
Overall I think I am doing pretty well and this week I am going to focus on
- tracking my intake
- ensuring I get in all my protein and water
- trying to be a little more active
Next week I am going to make a follow up appointment with the dietician to get some tips on moving to my next phase of eating - soft as opposed to pureed food.
I will be posting some backdated posts on my profile in the near future will let you know when I have updated.
Happy Monday to all of you
