Hi Sophia Did you like sweets before surgery? If yes, and don't now, that is great. ....I hope that happens to me after surgery. That has been my downfall, cake, cookies candybars. Everyone says your taste buds change dramatically after surgery, maybe thats whats happening to you too. Cissy

I can tell a difference. I definitely like salty stuff. But I do tolerate the sweeter stuff. Good thing, cuz that's how I'm currently getting my protein. I bet as time goes on I will change even more. But I'm with you there. Can't stand too much sweet stuff.

Just curious...what are you taking for protein?

So far it's been the samples of protein mixes I got from Vitalady. I have tried vanilla cinnamon, a strawberry one that wasn't too bad, a good chocolate one-chocolate stack whey, and another icky chocolate one. Then I have what little protein I get in soups and yogurt, which essentially amounts to nothing. I can't wait until the pureed foods so I can get some beans!

NO KIDDING...and it's all the fake sweet taste which is even worse. tonight I had my unflavored whey protien in broth and it was SO much more palatable. I just couldn't imagine trying to drink down another nasty protien shake today. Even if they don't taste bad the sweetness of them is driving me nuts. Happily I'm on pureed foods so I get a little break with my beans, hummus, cottage cheese...etc but really get very little protien benefit from the super small amounts I actually consume so I do have to rely on those darn shakes... Anyway, I feel your pain!!!! Corinna Q

I had the same problem I am not a sweet tooth kinda girl, I was craving a NY strip with mushrooms. I bought the Orrington Farms Beef and Chicken base which tastes so much better than the cubes or granules and canned stuff. I sip a cup of beef broth whenever I need something salty. Cottage Cheese smashed or chewed very well is also something that has helped me alot. I have always liked wholesome foods and not been a big dessert person. Not having any caffiene has made me feel like a million bucks too, I have increased energy. I have started to eat steamed veggies so far brocolli and califlower and I chew them very well and I haven't had any trouble. Everything has gone well so far and I am just waiting for something to go wrong isn't that crazy. First fill that is what will do it. Good Luck and hope I helped a little. Jackie
