Home and Doing Well! Surgery 09/14/06 Released 09/15/06
Sorry, I have not been able to post. I was having an issue getting connected to the site. Surgery went 09/14/06 as expected, I almost backed out at the last minute when the person pulled up to wheel me to surgery. My mom hugged me and assured me that it was OK to have the surgery and that helped me move forward. My husband has been an absolute joy to be around. In the holding room before going into surgery, I was crying thinking about my baby boy until a woman who had her surgery 3 years ago and was back for a tummy tuck pulled in across from me. She started talking to me and made my world a much better place. I was wheeled into the surgical room wide awake and they started straping me down which I did not like at all. I told them I would much rather be knocked out for that part. I told everyone I came into contact with to make sure I woke up from the surgery and told my doctor not to rush. He assured me that he would take his time. Physician found several adhesions from previous surgery that he tried to fix and even found that my bowel was connected to one of these adhesions. Surgery took a little longer trying to fix these issues. I dont know exactly how long at this point. I woke up in NO PAIN and would not take any pain meds. The nurse insisted and gave me half a dose which made me sick to my stomach and I thought I was going to throw-up. I refused any additional pain meds until I got to my room and my new nurse insisted that I take something and promised that I would not get sick from it. I took a total of 3 doses of pain meds in the hospital, it was more soreness than pain anyway. I was up and walking within an hour of being in my room, going to the bathroom on my own. I was told that I was a STAR PATIENT by 3 different nurses. No one ever had to tell me to walk. I was released by 10:30 am on Tuesday. Everything is fine except for soreness pain getting in and out of bed. Did get a little fever from sinus infections which made me ache a little more on Thursday and this morning but Tylenol seems to take care of that much better than what the Doc prescribed. Drain tube is fine, no bother but I will be happy to get rid of these staples. Thanks for all of the support getting me to this point and prayers with everyone going into surgery and currently recovering.
