Home Sweet Home
I did it! And I'm home!!
The whole experience was interesting and exhausting! The hospital staff was very nice, although I could not wait to be set free! Yesterday morning I was sooooo anxious being stuck in that bed with all that stuff connected to me.....heart monitors, oxygen, those silly blow up boots.....the room was way too hot, I felt like I couldn't breathe!! So after a quick little flip out, they released me from my ties, let me walk a bit and I felt soooooo much better!! I was sent home after lunch (2oz of broth and 1 oz jello, which I could not finish...he he he)! It's a 2 hour drive home so I was pooped when I finally got here......but I'm soooo happy to be here!!
So far so good!! No upset stomach from anything I have tried so far. Water seems to go down just fine and I think I got about 30 ozs in yesterday. Peppermint tea is tasting yummy this morning and the warmth makes my belly feel good! Not alot of pain, although I took pain meds last night but the Tylenol seems to be working just fine this morning! I am a side/belly sleeper however so that seems to be my biggest problem of the moment.....can't get more than an hour's sleep at a time......UGH!
Can't wait to try some Egg Beaters with a little cheese next!

So glad you're home and doing well! I am an odd one, but I liked the blow-up massage boots, kept asking if they made any for your feet!
It also amazed me when they brought in "lunch" a spoon of jello a small glass of broth and one of watered down juice and I couldn't drink it all...
We're living in a new world!

I liked the leg massagers too. I understand the can't sleep thing. I'm a back sleeper and I didn't sleep any other way in the hospital, and last night I had a horrible time sleeping. My back is SO sore! I'm going to take a hot shower and see if that helps.
You sound all gung ho on the food. I'm still too wimpy to try anything more than my soup, gatorade, cradkers, yogurt and protein. Oh and water.
Congrats!!!! Glad to hear you're doing so well!
I am a side sleeper and I am having a hard time sleeping for more than an hour or hour and a half...I always find myself getting up and switching positions and that's hard to do right now...lol. It hurts a little to just roll over so it takes some time to psych myself up to do it. I find that I am resting really well though, even with all the waking up.
I didn't like those blow up boots either...they made my legs sweaty...I couldn't wait to get them off and I would go get up to use the restroom even if I didn't have to just to take them off...lol. Bad bad bad...but the material iritated me...the blow up thing wasn't so bad but the plastic stuff they were made of made me hot and itchy.

Happy you're home and doing so well Melinda.
I don't think I'll be able to sleep in my bed at first.... I have a waterbed with a normal mattress in it... kinda of high. I'm also a side sleeper... will probably end up sleeping in the recliner, not looking forward to that tho.
I so cannot wait to be where y'all are at
Huggs & Blessings,

The massaging of the boots was great....it was the fact that they were plastic and it was about 110 degrees in my room!! I just needed them to go away.....and they did...he he he!!
Yup....food has been easy so far! Today I had cream of chicken soup with soy milk....just about 1/3 cup.....tasted quite yummy! Had 1/2 cup of Eggbeaters with a bit of parm cheese as well....that took about 2 hours to finish.....ate half, had to put it in the refridge for about 1/2 hour then zapped it and ate the rest.
So far so good.....let's hope it stays this way!!
Congrats to all my fellow losers and best wishes to the those of you coming up on your sugery day!!
