Hi Marilyn,
I am on a full-liquid diet for 2 weeks post-op, then I move to pureed for 1 week. I'm pretty sure I dumped because I was pushing myself to drink more than my grouchy-pouchy wanted. I was getting worried about not getting enough protein/liquids so I pushed it. I really think that was the whole problem.
Best of luck on your surgery,
Marilyn
Hey Marilyn,
That must have surprised the hell out of you! I would never have guessed that CIB would do that. I thought it would be the one "sure" drink to get protein. Just goes to show us that everyone acts differently to some things.
Well, keep plugging away. The worst part is over. Get some rest in between your walking and sipping!
Tom Hanks will tell ya there is no crying in Baseball..........Well, honey this is ain't Baseball!!!
Be well,
Peg G.

Hi! CIB is Carnation Instant Breakfast. Dumping happens when too much sugar gets "dumped" into your lower intestine. It only occurs with the RNY, you do NOT have dumping with a band because your stomach is not re-routed.
Believe it or not, many people choose RNY BECAUSE of the dumping. It is an immediate reminder that you've eaten something (or too much of something) that you shouldn't have.
So hope that helps and congratulations on your upcoming surgery!!!
Marilyn
