I actually have this hygiene "kit" my mom ordered me that comes with a sponge on a long stick and it is actually pretty awesome. I like to use it even though I can reach because it does get you much cleaner and I plan on bringing it to the hospital. I think they sell them at the OH store. Just a thought.

Okay - I see all the other posters saying it is not fully necessary, so I had to just add my 2 cents... I do have short arms as I am only 5'2", but I DEFINITELY think the thongs or something similiar are a necessity as after my surgery I couldn't quite manage reaching back there and a week out am still having some difficulties.. I guess my advice would be take em and hope you don't ever need them, but if you do need them you will be thankful you have them.. Good luck with everything Amie

Girls, girls, girls, I am a bit older than all of you but if you will check at wal-mart they have pull ups for grown people.Get a pkg of the long ones, that way there will be no accidents on sofa or your bed.also they have bed protectors than can be placed in chairs or where ever you may sit.also at the dollar store you will find soft back brushes with a handle, perfect for reaching those hard to reach places just use washing detg to keep them clean use over.you can even wrap your wipes around the brush and reach those places in need.your favorite dollar store may have it all.I love the dollar tree store.works for me.Good Luck and I wish you all a simple surgery and speedy recovery..Judy Hitt

Denise... I heard that some folks need it because they cannot bend over far enough to wipe properly. I see that they have these huge pink spongy things on sticks in a "bariatric surgery survival kit." But in all honesty...I had surgery on the 13th and had no problems accessing either side...lol. It hurt a little...but not much. But I did have Lap RNY...I can't speak for those having open. GOod luck! Dana
