Hi, This is my first post so I will make it quick and to the point. My surgery is scheduled for the 14 Nov. I was told by my nurse that I can have anything that will fit through a straw. So my question is can I have things like custard and cheesecake. I know I am suppose to have sugar free sweets, soups, jello, yogart and things like that. Today I bought some jello brand strawberry cheesecake pudding because I was tired of soup, potatoes and jello. I also bought some sugar free klondike ice cream. Is this type of food ok. I have my EGD done on Monday and I don't want anyfood to show up in my stomach which would stop me from having the surgery. If anyone has any answers please help. Thanks

You should really contact the dietician at your doctor's office for what you can and can't have... Every doctor had a slightly different protocal on how, when and what you can eat. Never use the boards for medical advice when your doctor has the answers... For me I am on a specified liquid diet of stuff they provided for me (3 shakes, 1 hot soup, and 1 high fiber/fruit ddrink). Fortunately it all tastes awesome, but it isn't FOOD... So see how different things can be... Call your surgeons office to make sure you are eating the right foods.... Best of luck to you... BTW... congrats on having a date and welcome to the board.... Shawn M.
