Ok, in trying to find a lighter side (for those of us who have to go through a liquid diet phase) I've decided to try starting a list of things that "aren't so bad" about drinking protein shakes and slupring sugar-free popsicles all day, so here goes...
Pre-surgery liquid diets don't TOTALLY stink because:
1) The big "dinner" decision only comes down to Chocolate vs Vanilla.
2) You can relax on flossing
Darn! I can only think of 2 things!!! Maybe they do totally stink! LOL
Well, one more piece of good news, you WILL lose weight on this diet (so there's less to lose after surgery). I'm on day 8 and down 10 lbs! Not a real fun diet by any means... but as long as I HAVE to do it, I might as well get some scale payoff!!!
How about you? Got anything to add to the list or am I just getting too much protein to the brain over here?

Let's see I can add something... I'm sure I can... how about your house no longer smells like you've been cooking and yes you do lose weight.... I'm on day 8 and down 9 pounds. A friend of mine is on day 12 and is down 16 pounds.
That's all I can think of right now... but I have discovered it isn't that bad. Just plan to keep very busy and you won't think about food too much. I have totally rediscovered my sense of smell, however... I smell food just imagining it... It's tough driving around town... I can smell every restaurant, but like I said, it's not all bad. I feel like I'm ready to move forwad in this process.
I am day 5/10 and this is so not fun to do. But, I get a hoot out of guilting my hubby
every time he eats something! He was eating chips and dip last nite and I stared at
him until he responded with "Ok, I'll put them away." Oh no I said, it don't bother me at all what you eat now. Big fat liar that I am. Of course it bothers me but will I give up what I have worked so hard to achieve? Hell no! Have a day! Cheryl
I am on day 7 of the liquids.. I dont mind it and I like the chocolate. Last I weighed myself, (a few days ago) I was down 8. I like the looks of the scale and I dont feel hungry most of the time. I drink alot of crystal light in between and spend about as much time in the bathroom. My family is glad we have two bathrooms in the house right now! LOL Just thinking.... 1 week from now I will be able to really be on the loosing side!

I'm so sorry you are having a hard time with this... when it gets really hard for me, I just try to concentrate on the whole reason we are going through this (it's not as a punishment, no matter what you may be thinking!)
I know it's easier said than done, but just think of all the people who have done it before... and you (we) can do it too!!!!!

Marilyn,
I know all of that and I keep reminding myself of it, but when my family ate pizza last night I stood over it and sniiiiiffffed... sniiiiiffffed... and sniiiiiffffed..... I started crying wondering how I would manage for the next week and after surgery.... It is just much harder than I had imagined it would be... during the day when the kids are in school it seems to be ok, it is the evening when I have to make dinner and feed them that is so hard... and when they have thier halloween candy out.. ugghhh!!!!! I know I can do it.. I just have to take my own advice of keepoing my eye on the prize.... Sure is much harder than I thought though...
I get 3 shakes, 1 hot soup and 1 fruit/fiber drink.... that is it in a day, plus water..... Then the last day it is only 7 fruit/fiber drinks and nothing else.... I am just trying to take it one day at a time.... I really did not think it was going to be as hard as it is though.....
Thanks for your support!
