Had my surgery yesterday, just got home.
I would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers. I had my surgery yesterday moning at 8:30. I was in the recovery room until about 11:00AM. They said everything went great even with my past cardiac problems. They did say I had a Hiatle Hernia, hope I spelt it right, they repaired it. After the surgery I had no neausea, I felt really good, probably the worst part about it was the Foley Catheter, that was uncomfortable. I was able to walk almost immediately, I had to walk every 2 hours, so sleep was a little disturbed. They said my last walk would be 2:00AM and they wouldn't didturb me until 4:00AM, that didn't work for me, I wound up watching a movie on TV so I didn't get to sleep much. Today, I took a few 10 minute cat naps. I didn't require any pain medicine at all. My only real problem is that the cardio medication that I take is all lagre pills, so they reduced my milligrams and incresed the frequency of taking them per day, lets see how that works out, I hope that will only be temporary. I am on a diet of Jello, broth and water, my first meal was about 2:00PM this afternoon, after a few sips of water and the cup of broth I was full, I had to save the Jello until later. I just had another Jello and some more water about 8:00PM and I am still pretty full right now. I am felling pretty good right now, the stomach area h******** the fifth one is for the Hernia, there is not much soreness there, a little but it is tollerable, my upper left shoulder hurts a little, I am not sure why? Well, thanks again, I am going to nap a little. If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me.

Hey Charlie,
Congrats on your successful surgery! That is awesome . From what I understand from some other posts is that the pain in your shoulder is from the air they use in your abdominal cavity during surgery. Don't quote me on that! It is suppose to feel better in about 3 days. I also have a small hiatal hernia they are repairing. So I'll be in the same boat you are! Good luck with your recovery and keep us all posted on your weight loss. Denise
Glad to hear you are home Charlie and doing so well. When I have had past lap surgeries I had problems with shoulder pain... it is very common and I guess from the gas they use to blow your belly up to do the surgery. It should pass in another day or two. Best of luck to you for a speedy recovery.
