What can I eat?
So...I gained weight at my last appointment. I knew I had...since I'd done all my last meals and what not. He told me I need to lose the weight before surgery. So I have a week. He told me to cut carbs - which is pretty much...everything. Does anyone have recommendations? What should I be eating this last week? They only require me to be on liquids the day prior to my sugery.
Renee,
I am only required to do a liquid diet for the day before too but I actually started a full liquid diet (making sure I stay below 30 grams of carbs per day) on Monday (surgery is Friday) and in just one day dropped the weight from my "last supper" days So you might just commit to doing the liquid diet sooner.
Also there are plenty of low carb options in food. Tuna salad, cheeses, roasted chicken, low sugar peanut butter (a staple in my low carb diet), American Fields pasta only effects your carb intake minimally and tastes great, low carb tortillas are tasty with some hummus and deli turkey or as a quesadilla. My surgeon required no more than 30 grams of carbs per day for about two months and I lost 24 pounds in that time so it definately works and isn't as bad as you might think.
Hope that helps a little.
