November 13th is the beginning of my new life!!!

I will be having lap band surgery on 11/13 in Houma, Louisiana. I have been waiting 7 months for approval. I scheduled the 13th because I'm a school teacher and wanted to have the surgery in conjunction with the Thanksgiving holiday break. This Thanksgiving I will be 41 years old and have a lot to be thankful for. I weigh about 260 lbs and can't wait to shed some of this. I'm nervous, excited, anxious, happy...you name it. I've failed so many times before that I am worried about failing again. I am so ready to lose and keep it off!!! Is there anyone out there reading this that has had lap band surgery and lost and kept it off for a significant amount of time? I would love to hear from you.

Hi Julie, Congratulations on your date!!! I am the same weight as you, I am a teacher, and I am having surgery the same date, it's exciting isn't it??? Well, my sister had lap band surgery last December. She has lost nearly 100lbs and kept it off, thus far. She's like the incredible shrinking woman!! Only time will tell as to whether or not she keeps it off. However, I am not going to judge myself against her. People lose weight differently, so set your own goals.

I too am having surgery on the 13th, am also a school teacher, and weigh 261.... So we will have alot in common, although I am having open RNY.. so it will interesting to see how things go... good luck and I will say an extra prayer as I am going to sleep that morning..Just for all my Nov 13, surgery mates.... Hi Julie... I'm having lap RNY on the 13th in Hawaii I had my informational meeting in the beginning of June and I'm having surgery the same day as you. I weigh about 269 (hopefully a few pounds less by the time surgery comes around) and can't wait! So congrats on your surgery!
