Anyone on a pre-op diet yet???

My surgery is November 1 I am having a gastric sleeve, I started my pre-op diet yesterday. My surgeon put me on a 2 week Optifast diet. I have heard it referred to as Optiyuk and Optivomit but I actually like the taste (I have the vanilla milkshakes) I am having fruit for breakfast with my shake (so far strawberries) I have a bowl of diet jello (or jelly as we call it here) with the shake for lunch and veggies with the shake for dinner so far so good but I still have 12 days to go that feels like forever I am also getting terrible headaches, but have been told this is because my body is detoxing. My "last" meal was unceremonious because I found out about my date at the last minute, so I had a piece of quiche, some pasta salad, some fetta salad, a small baked potato and a piece of meat pie. Do you have a pre-op diet? Do you have a last meal planned? Best Wishes to all us November Peeps Q

Q, My surgery isn't until the end of November. I have my pre-op testing and NUT class on the 1st. I will find out all my diet info then I guess. I am sure I will have some sort of pre-op diet to do, and I definitely will plan a last meal. I just don't know what as of yet, either Chinese or Red Lobster I guess. Hi! Mine is on Nov 1 too! I just started my liquid diet today and am really really really gonna try to keep it up Right now I am trying lo carb-high protein slim fast. I am wondering what other drinks are like. Can you buy optifast in the stores? I am nervous bout the surgery, but excited too pattianne

Hi Pattianne over here in australia they only sell Optifast in a chemist, I am not sure where you are. I know you get it in the states but not sure about stockists. It is over the counter though. Good luck with your diet and Good luck to both of us for the 1st!

Hi Q !! I haven't been given a diet as of yet, other than a cut back on calories, and eat smaller portions, NO diet dew, not even decaff coffee But I'm bringing up the rear with my surgery on the 29th. I'm having an open RNY soooo I may not have to have a liquid diet Not sure of a last meal yet..... Chinese sounds real good, but so does a nice steak with ALL the trimmings Huggs & Blessings, Lori
