Topic: RE: Nine Month Statistics
Dear Janet,
I don't know about PCOS, but I read an article in the NY Times yesterday about some of the microbiological and inflammation viruses that can contribute to obesity. Not that I understand the science, but it did remind me that there are so many factors--and many unknown--that contribute to the struggle with weight. While I don't believe that biology is destiny, I know it can contribute to how difficult a time one has with weight issues.
So bottom line--you are losing weight. That's a good thing. Be pleased with yourself and the good decisions you have made. And keep up the good efforts.
Congratulations,
Sally

My NUT said no more than 70.... but she has been "less than helpful" in many ways, so I will try that.
Thanks for your advice!

The symtom of dizziness is concerning. Please make sure you get your iron and Vit B levels checked asap. In the meantime, drink at least 100oz of fluid a day to ensure that you're not dehydrated. Let us know what the doctor finds out.

Topic: Help I am at a nine month plateau
I have only lost three pounds in about a month. I have not really weighed myself very often throughout my journey due to my scale is not very accurate. I live in an old house with many slanted floors. I have found an accuracte place for my scale. I have only lost 2-3 pounds in a month or more. Does anyone have any ideas to get the weight loss going a little quicker? I know it slows down but should it be this dramatically? I have lost about 93 pounds and I would like to loose at least another 7-25 pounds. I don;t really have a personal goal and my sergeon does not make goal weights either. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas. I do drink my water, get my protein in and I exercise 4 times a week and I really do not want to increase my exercise due to time and family commitments.
Thanks for any ideas.

Topic: Dizzy - Equilibrium Issues
I had a laproscopic gastric bypass on Nov 14, 2005 and I have lost 128 lbs and have 26 more to go to reach my goal weight. On the whole I have been incredibly healthy and have felt great through all of this - however - I am starting to have more frequent issues with extreme dizziness. When thi****s I have trouble walking in a straight line and I get terrible "bedspins". With the dizziness comes an upset stomach and yesterday I actually threw up - only the second time since surgery. Has anyone else experienced symptoms like this? I have a call into my doctor this morning to discuss this further, but I wanted to see if anyone out here had any personal experience with this.
thanks - Sue

Jennifer -
I drink only Isopure or Nectar.
Unfortunately, our dietician is out and has just had back surgery. But my weight loss is frustrating, especially considering how far I still have to go. Also, I've increased my activity SO much in the past 2 months.

LC;
I just read your profile and it says you're seeing your surgeon in a few days. Take your food diaries for the past month and have him review them for a clue. Even if you've been gaining muscle mass from your exercise, muscle burns more calories than fat, so you should still be losing.
When you increase your protein, are you doing it with shakes that have a lot of carbs or fat? I stick mainly with Profect. It's 25g of protein, 0g fat, 0g carbs and 100 cal, so basically pure protein. It makes a huge difference for me although right now, I'm struggling to eat enough to support the amount of activity I'm doing.
Blessings,
Jennifer

Jennifer--
I seem to stop losing whenever I'm getting more protein. I know it's weird, and maybe it's just a coincidence, but I'm about ready to stop taking it!!
I actually gain a few pounds, and I'm still at maybe 1000 calories a day total.
I haven't lost weight in over a month...despite exercise, water and protein increase.
It's frustrating -- I'm over 300 lbs still, so it's not like I'm close to goal.

I'm home from Body & Soul and showered. Just finished posting my 9 month photo to my profile and am doing laundry.
I hope everyone had a great day and got out there for some activity.

i am 9 months and two weeks out and have lost 98 lb. i think this is probably typical from what i have heard. I think the more you weighed starting out the more you lose the first year. but it seems like around 90 - 130 lbs is typical for this stage. I wish i could lose it faster but if i never lose another pound i am so happy with whats gone.
If any one has any ideas on how to make it come off faster please tell me....
Good Luck. Carla
