Topic: Walking without stopping every few yards
Every year, my guy and I go to a Poetry Festival in Tuolumne Meadows
Elevation is almost 9000 feet.
We have to walk from the parking area about a mile or two in rough terrain to get to the lodge where the program is. I always have to stop due to heat and elevation and excess weight, to catch my breath. We never even went back the second day because it was so hard for me.
One of the hopes when I was deciding on having WLS was, that 9 months out, I would have lost about 100 pounds, and would not have to stop to rest as much.
Well, I am so excited, I have lost 135 pounds, and we walked that same path, about four times a day for two days in a row, and it was do fantastic. We only stopped when we wanted to enjoy a great view. Never because I was tired out or in pain.

Topic: RE: Help I am at a nine month plateau
i too just hurdled my 9 month plateu (see my previous post on this message board). I hadn't moved the scale in nearly 2 months. I went back to the basics, food diary to log all protein, calories and fluid. I increased fluids to 90+ ounces, 80+protein....dropped nearly 5 pounds in 2 weeks and most of all....I finally passed the 100# mark. I suggest getting back to the basics ( I think I was grazing a little too much...thinking I had to eat protein all the time). It worked for me....good luck!

Topic: RE: Movin' and Losin' on a Thursday?
Well Jennifer, I was losin' it last week as far as exercise goes.... I tried to go to the gym on Friday, but it was closed for "EMERGENCY CLEAN UP". I gave in and went and sat in an air-conditioned salon and had a manicure and pedicure instead. Saturday morning, I woke with the resolve to exercise. I made it to the 9AM water aerobics class and still had energy at 10, so I went along and did all my cardio exercises for another hour. We had tickets to go to the home opener of the New England Patriots last night and I knew there would be walking involved, and boy - was I right!!! We walked from the parking lot to the stadium (~3 miles), then up to the highest level to our seats (Gillette Stadium holds 68,000 fans - the tickets were a present from our daughter for mother's day and father's day), then we walked back to the car. I certainly did get my exercise in on Saturday.
Hope you had a great weekend!

Topic: RE: Dizzy - Equilibrium Issues
Hi Susan,
I had my surgery on Nov 17th, 2005. I've lost a total of 200#'s (133 since surgery) I have been getting lightheaded, and dizzy lately too. I was shopping with my daughter and actualy passed out in the store. I have an appointment on Tuesday for blood work and to see if they can find out what's going on with me. I hope you feel better soon. Please let me know what your Dr. tells you.
God bless you,
Annette
Topic: RE: Nine Month Statistics
Hey Janet,
I was struck by the comment you made "if you would lose weight your..."
I have had psorisis for decades! Over the past 15 years, or so, I've had many dermatologists tell me that losing weight would make the psorisis much better, if not "cure" it.
WELL... I'm here to say that almost 9 months later, and 112 pounds lighter, the psorisis is worse than it's ever been!! so
to those doctors that said losing weight would help this darn skin issue. Of course, we now know that psorisis is a result of an auto-immune disorder, and I've been on methotrexate and will soon start injections of Enbrel.
Good luck on your gyno issues... no fun there either. I had a full hysterectomy 3 years ago!
Take care,
Tammy

Topic: Movin' and Losin' on a Thursday?
Today was my day off from workout. I'm an afterwork workout girl and tonight, I had an appreciation dinner for the volunteers that worked on the charity event I co-chaired last week.
Dinner was wonderful, but Body & Soul would have been a more fulfilling way to spend my evening.
So, who moved today?
Blessings,
Jennifer
Topic: RE: Move to Lose Wednesday?
I decided to take Wednesday off from physical exercise (although I did walk the mall in heels for an hour and made a huge batch of home made salsa - standing for well over 2 hours).
You're doing great on your exercise! Keep it up, you keep me motivated!

Topic: Move to Lose Wednesday?
I did an hour of strength training tonight. Low weight, high reps. I'm focused more on toning than building bulk.
What did you do today?
Blessings,
Jennifer
