Topic: Just looking for support
I am a year post op. I am down 70 pound ( I started out @ 249lbs ) Everything is going pretty good. I am at a plateau thought and I am starting to get discouraged. I have been @ 170 for the whole month of November. Thanksgiving was a little rough, but I made it. I am also looking for a support group in the metro-atlanta area, if anyone knows of one. please recommend. Thanks for listening. Cynamon

Topic: RE: 1 yr and 100 lbs later......I'm starting to slide backwards somewhat
Hey Tony, I am right there with you! I Have always had the sweet tooth but since halloween it has been even worse!!!!! So Today I am removing all things bad from the house like i did gettng ready for surgery. I also havnt been getting enough protein. Grazing like crazy too. Especially over thanksgivng. So Back to basics eating 6 times a day getting in my water and protein. Just remember you are much closer to getting it back under control than you were a year ago. and if you screw up for one meal thats ok you can eat better the next meal. not wait till the next day to start again. Keep me posted and We can keep in contact to keep eachother in check. Maybe we both can start a food journal and then relay it to each other to be accountable. Our own support group! Talk to you soon Leann 235/132/125

Hi all, I've been off the boards for about 6 months. Here it is 1 year after surgery and I was down as much as 103 lbs, 262 to 159. But now I've developed a sweet tooth from heck and I've been eating too much, too fast, too often and as a result I'm up to 167 and feel like I'm outta control again. I still haven't found a support group, maybe that would help, I guess I need to refocus before it's too late. Ugh. Happy anniversary to all of the other 1 year people. Tony in WA state

Topic: RE: Is this dumping?
Hi Annett Thanks for your response. As the day went on I started to feel better. Early in the day I didn't want anything to eat or drink. I made myself a cup of hot decaf tea and I couldn't bring myself to drink it. As the day went on I felt better. I thought If I didn't dump like this the first year I wouldn't experience this type of dumping. I guess I didn't think there would be that much fat in white sauce. I use it at home out of a jar but only a small amount and I am fine. I will eventually get this fat content thing right. I will know never order anything out with a white sauce. Janet

Hi Janet, Usually after a dump the pouch is sensitive for a day or two. Warm liquids and light eating will generally help soothe the pouch. Hope you feel better soon. God bless you, Annette

Casey Q, Good idea, check with the surgeon, and examine your eating habits closely. Will send a PM when possible. PS Thank you for your hubby's service, and your family's sacrifice now. Doug

Doug Thanks for your response. It might have been a little virus or something because I still haven't felt very good today. My pouch just feels a l;ittle yucky. Hope you enjoyed your Thankgiving. Janet

Janet, It's possible. I'm a "late" dumper, and it happens sometimes. Or with a white sauce, it might have been the fat content of the sauce. Who knows what restaurants actually put into the food, I guess we take the chance when we go out. But you're making me hungry just thinking about it. Good luck, Doug

Topic: Is this dumping?
I went out to eat last night with my husband. I ordered a seafood dish in white sauce. It went down fine but shortly after coming home I was getting severe cramps in my lowere abdomain and then I had diarrhea. I never has this happen to me before. Can dumping happen an hour after eating? Usually if I dump it happens while I am eating or right after. I don't get diarrhea from it either, I will get the chills, sweats or nasueas. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I just went to my 1 year appointment and told the surgeon everything was going great.
