Topic: 1 yr surgerivesary today!
I'm down 146 pounds and loving and living life to it's fullest!
My health has improved 100%, my quality of life has improved 100% and I can't get enough of it!
I'm so thankful for my friends, family and co-workers who have been so supportive this past year! It's been a wild ride and although I had few if any complicaitons, I feel humbled by the experience. Just when I think I've got this thing nailed and I get too complacent, my grouchy pouchy lets me know just who's in charge! When I get to fretting about not losing fast enough or falling off the food wagon, I just get back into the routine and keep plugging along and then the scales moves again and all is well!
I'm not through yet, but if I were I'd still be thrilled with the achievements I've made so far! I hope each and every one of you have had as great and wonderful a success as I have!
Hugs,
Karen

Topic: RE: Happy Anniversary to all the 21st er's out there!
Hi there! I'm not a 21st er...hehehe...but a 29er! I have lost 110 lbs and am 3 weeks out of a lower body lift done in Brazil! I also had my arms done while I was down there! It was my 1st anniversary gift to myself. I'm only about 8 lbs from goal, but I've reached my personal goal and that's what mattered to me!
Brazil was a VERY cool experience that I will not soon forget! I plan to return and have my legs done too! The price was amazing for the service received! It almost sounded too good to be true! The results are just amazing!
Happy Anniversary to all of you!!

I think it's good for you to talk to your Dr. There's gotta be something wrong? I mean you'd hate to think you went through all that trouble just to loose a few pounds eh? Good luck with it and please keep us posted!
Are you able to eat as much as you used to?
Are you following a high protein diet??

Hey Cynamon! We will fight obesity our whole life, BUT, the beauty of WLS is that we now have a tool to fight it with. If you haven't visited www.fitday.com go there sometime and record your food. It's amazing what you will discover about food and your choices. Your day should consist of mostly protein with some carbs and next to no sugar. WLS makes us malabsorb fat, unfortunately the same is not true for sugar. We absorb sugar right from the moment it hits our tongue! The other thing is that eating sugar/carbs will make you crave sugar/carbs so the less the better!! I had found that if I didn't take in enough protein, I would stall with weight loss. I started doing a minimum of 40g supplement per day plus high protein diet and things would move on the scale again!
Good luck and don't give up the fight!

Topic: RE: 1 yr and 100 lbs later......I'm starting to slide backwards somewhat
Hey Tony! I hear ya loud and clear and you are NOT alone! It's so easy to give in to temptation. I think the key is to avoid sweets altogether, because I read an article relatively recently that said sugar consumption will make you have cravings for sugar. So..if you avoid them altogether, eventually, you won't crave them. I guess the thing is...you have a tool, and you need to get back to basics to use your tool.
You've done great so far, and you will continue! Browse through your old photos and remind yourself of where you came from! Stick with the boards, do anything to keep yourself motivated!

Terri,
Thanks for the encouragement. It gets so discouraging, but I guess we have to just keep plugging away. I am trying very hard to make the right choices, but w/ the holidays and finding out that I can actually eat small amounts of things w/out dumping, it gets me into trouble. I am trying up my protien intake , working out and drinking like I should, but I have problems know how many carbs and how much sugar and how much protien I should have. I am just trying to figure this whole thing out. With everything said, I do not regret my surgery and I am so excited about how far I have come. I guess those are the things I need to remember.
Thanks for listening again.....

Cynamon,
Sorry, to hear that you have been having a hard time this past month. Just keep plugging along and hopefully things will turn around and the weight will start coming off again. I will be a year out tomorrow. I started at 358 lbs and on my surgery date I was down to 286, now I'm around the 170 lbs range. I have also been on a plateau for quite a while a month or more I will lose a few and gain a few. This is getting very frustraiting. I have been having a hard time since buying Halloween candy, and eating some of the left overs, Had to finally take the rest to work just to get them out of the house. Then it was Thanksgiving and the pies, and more cookies at work. I now know I can't have any of these near me or I will eat them... even though I get a little queezy with the sugar I still want them... So, starting tomorrow it's back on my routine, with limiting my carb and sugar intake. I have about 15 more lbs to go so I can finally say I lost 200 lbs, so that is my next goal. Wish me luck!!!
ps
Anytime you need to talk just email me.
Thanks for letting me vent a little too. The support you can get from this site is amazing. Sometimes I just have to remind my self of how far I have come since I first started this wonderful journey (358 lbs to 170 lbs). There are so many things I can do now that I could't before. I'm so glad I had this done.

Topic: RE: Gas :(
Hey Kim,
you are not alone. I have awful gas and my family laughs at me while they also think something is wrong w/ me. My surgeon said that it is normal but it may be cause by what I am eating or that I am drinking too fast and/or not digesting my food well enough.
Hope this help.
Good luck
Cynamon
