Topic: Very frustrated
Ok I had my surgery on November 2,2005. RNY Proximal. Ok before surgery I weighed 390lbs as of the day of surgery I weighed 304lbs as of today I weigh 208lbs. I am suppose to be between 180-160 because I am 6 ft tall. I am frustrated. My weigh hasnt changed in 5 months now. There hasnt been any body changes either. I am frustrated and at my wits end. I think I have been getting depressed lately also. I moved from CA to MA in November and since I have been here. I havent been able to find any kind of support group. My own nurse practitioner has referred me out to Lahey since she isnt a Bariatric nurse. I need support I also noticed I have been slipping not staying on schedule with the vitamins and protein shakes. I know all of this that I am saying is probably why I am not losing. I just really need some emotional support from those that might understand. This is hard for me to just blabb openly about this but I realized if anyone would understand people here would. I am very happy with my progress dont get me wrong. Its just that as soon as my body reached 30lbs from goal it was like it just hit a road block, so then frustrations set in and lack of motivation also sets in. I am looking for a jump start. Amy

My surgery was 11/28/05, I lost a total of 106, but I've gained a little over 5 lbs so I'm hovering at the 100 lb loss area. I currently weigh 165, I feel great. I'd like to lose maybe another 10 lbs but thats it. Congrats to all and merry christmas. Tony in WA state

Thank you Sally yes this is not my first experience with retail. I allways said I will not go back into it. But just the convience of being so close to home I am so excited about that. I won't have to drive in the snow ( if we ever get any)

Congratulations on the new job and the weight loss. I worked retail for 10 years and now how hard it can be at times. It will definitely keep you busy. Have a great Christmas, Sally

Topic: Hi novmember friends
Just thought I would update you a little on my progress these days. I recently changed jobs. I am now an asistant manager of a dollar general store here in my town. I only have 2 blocks to work now. I used to have to drive miles no matter where I worked at. So now I can walk to work , I thought I'd never say that. Plus I feel so good about my job position I don't think I would have gotten hired before my surgery as an asistant manager. Thats just a feeling of the confidence I have in myself now. So anyway got on the scale this morning and am down to 127. I am so happy with that. my goal was 130. for my height I could still go down farther but for my age I think I'm doing good. I'm 48. Ok well you all have a safe and wonderful christmas and I hope all your dreams come true well wait I think they allready have. Love betty

Constipation has been a huge issue for me for a long time but it got worse after the surgery. I now take six stool softeners a day (2 in the a.m., 1 at lunch time and dinner time with my other vitamins/supplements and 2 in the p.m.). I use a poweder stuff called Mirolax twice a week, in my protein shakes. I eat oatmeal every morning and have a Metamucil cinammon fiber wafer a couple of times a week. If I don't get all my liquids in during the day, I still sometimes have issues. I also occasionally have to use a suppository or laxative. Just thought I would chime in with my experience. (I have used Smooth Move Tea a few times too.)

My one-year anniversary was November 30th and to date I've lost 126 pounds. I went from a size 20 to a size 10, which I still find truly amazing. I'm off all of my medications except my arthritis meds. No more high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, or pre-diabetic issues. I've had numerous people not recognize me, which I also find mind boggling. I'm exercising regularly (even doing spinning classes with my husband, which I never thought I'd be able to do.) When I went to my husband's 20 year class reunion people told me I hadn't changed a bit since high school. They missed the 20 year crawl up the weight scale. All in all, this has been an amazing journey. I've saving up for a tummy tuck and breast augmentation, mainly because I would like to get rid of the "tube socks with golf balls" look I'm currently sporting. My skin issues aren't all that bad but I want to finish the process I started. Of course that "self pay" thing means it will take a while to save up the cashola. Congrats to everyone on their successes this year. Happy Holidays!

Dear Kathy, I had my surgery on the same day, and I must have gotten your share of luck as I haven't had any problems. Do they know why you keep closing up? I don't know that I could handle not eating solid food. The liquid through pureed stages nearly drove me crazy for just those few weeks. Here's to a better year two! Sally
