Dear Dawn, If they are "just" cramps, you might also try a heating pad for at home and one of those heat patches that you can wear for during the day. I use the heat patches on my arthritic knees sometimes and they do help. They are supposed to help for cramps as well. Best of luck and congradulations on you weight loss. Sally

Topic: RE: Question - Cramps
Dawn; You should probably contact your Gyn. If Tylenol w/ Codeine isn't taking care of the discomfort, it may be more than just cramps. I only say this because we had to take my cousin to the ER for what she thought was severe cramps. It turned out she had a blocked fillopian tube and is going to require surgery to resolve the problem. I hope it's nothing serious, but you've lost a lot of weight in a very short time and it's probably best to have it checked out by your Gyn. If it is just cramps, you may want to consider going on the pill. I had what I considered severe cramps as a teenager and just suffered through, but when I went away to college and started seeing a Gyn, I went on the pill to regulate my cycle and now, I never have cramps. Topic: Question - Cramps
Hi Everyone, I have a question. When I was a teenager I had severe monthly cramps. When I gained my weight, my cycle became irregular. After surgery, my cramps have came back with a vengence, except now I cannot take anaprox or any NASID's. I take Tylenol 3 which has codine in it, but it doesn't seem to be strong enough. Do you guy's know of any other type of pain meds. that could be taken for cramps? General info. Surgery date: 11-2-05 Starting weight after surgery: 486 3 month post op weight: 409 Dawn

Topic: RE: What Are You Guys Eating?????
I had my surgery three months ago. I'm eating a lot of chili with l/f cheese on top. Sometimes to make it more exciting I stir in some corn chips. I also eat a lot of cottage cheese and omlets (with ham, cheese, green peppers and tomatos, yummmm). Oh, and the other day with my omlet I had about four bites of a whole-wheat pancake with s/f syrup, it was fantastic! That's basically it...not too exciting, hope it gives you some ideas. Topic: RE: 3 mo dr. follow-up
you are doing better than me. I had surgery Nov. 29th and have only lost a total of 57 pounds. But my blood work came back low Iron and potassium. Would you mind emailing me at [email protected] and sharing your daily food intake with me. Enough days to give me a good idea. I guess I am not eating right. How are you getting in that high of protein with only one whey drink? How much fluids do you take in each day. And you said your fats/carbs were right on, what % are they? I consume about the same amount of calories but I guess I am not meeting all my needs. I take calcium, multi-vitamin daily, and B-12 shot monthly. But now on Iron and potassium. Can you help me get on track please?

Yes fluids are important. I became dehydrated shortly after surgery, was dizzy, lightheaded and my blood pressure went way down. Keep up the liquids.

Topic: RE: Quick stabbing pain on left side
I have had pain as well on my left side, but it was from my muscles spasming and getting movement back. It takes a long time for the muscles to back to what they do. I still get them every so often and it is just me working my muscle groups more often and being able to twist further around since I have lost weight.

I'm struggling too with ideas. I snack on Crispix cereal and cashews. For breakfast, I usually have cottage cheese and sugar free jello. The jello gives the cottage cheese some flavor. Our local grocery store has the rotissere chickens, so thats a great option. I've bought some of the South Beach meals, they aren't bad. In fact, this weekend, I had a chicken wrap with mandarin orange dressing. They are with the Lunchables and it was really good. It comes with 2, so it was enough for 2 lunches. I fix a sweet potato until it falls apart and ma**** Add butter and sweetnlow brown sugar. It goes great with the chicken. Also, I'll make some homemade applesauce and have a little dab of that too. Not a bad little meal. I haven't tried going out to eat much. I just hate to get such a large order and end up taking it all home to eat on for a week! Keep the suggestions coming!!!! Nancy H
