Whenever I feel like I'm not making any progress or I get worried about under or over eating I do go back to tracking my food on fitday for a few days until I'm either reassured that I'm still on track or I can pinpoint what the problem is, like too many carbs or too much fat.... at my 6 month check up my nut said I needed to get at least 1000 calories a day..... I generally try to avoid bad carbs and to keep my fat content to about 10 gms a day..... I started my consult at 356, was 337 on the day of surgery and this morning was at 200.... my own personal goal has been ONEderland and I only need to lose 1 more pound to get there! Good luck! Karen

Another question, Karen...do you use fitday.com? I do and it shows a pie chart for your %'s of fats, carbs and protiens on a daily basis. Unfortunatly, I still have WAY too many fat grams! 1000-1200 is what I usually do too, but I'm wondering if that's still too much? How's ur weight loss progressing? I started at 397...down to about 230 now, but it's going s-l-o-w! Thanks again, & 's Janet~

I haven't been around much, but I have a question for all my Nov. buddies. How many calories do you consume in an average day?

KK; One gallon of water = 8 lbs. So if it's "that time of the month" you could easily be retaining that much water. I am below goal, but I allow myself a 5 lb. range. From 140-145. I weigh probably 2-3x/week, but if I get on the scale and am at 144, I start really watching my protein and water. Usually within a few days, I'm back at 140-141. By going back to basics, your tool will always continue to work. Blessings, Jennifer

hey K K yes that happens to us all. Just when you think you are there bamm the rug comes out from under you. Its not anything you did. Its just our hormones and maybe holding water. Or a number of things. But I can struggle with the same 5 pounds over and over again. I had my surgery on 11-15-05 and I started at 253. I am now at 125 . But I go up to 127 than back down againg. It is so unbelievable, But you have to learn not to stress over a few pounds. Betty

Jacki You know I was just talking to a guy friend of mine about this very same thing....we can GAIN the weight back...and in some cases MORE. I refuse to be that statistic too but I fight the food demons inside of me at times. One day at a time. Tanya

Hi Amy, I am not much of a cook for myself.. I make regular meals for my family and eat what I can or make myself something that I can eat... but I wanted to tell you that my friend, who is 2 years post-op has done baking with splenda with wonderful results. She sold breads, pies, cookies and pumpkin rolls all done "sugar free" with splenda. It can be done. AND if you want a small piece of something, you can fell a little better about it when it's sugar free. They taste great, too. I also know of a lady who makes and sells fudge.. she says that the usual artificial sweetners (equal, sweet n low, splenda) won't work in fudge recipes, the "sugar" or sugar substitute must be granular or it won't set up right. I will try to find the name of the sugar substitute she uses. It is something like Diabeta sweet.. can only be gotten online. I would definitly be interested in the recipes. My hubby refuses to eat healthy... he is 6'2" and weighs over 450.. and won't even think about surgery for himself... but if I can sneak something good in, I will..lol. Good luck on the project!! Jacki K
