Hi Sally! Good to hear from you. And I'm really glad to hear that you are also very happy with your results! You & I are living proof: it works, if you work with it!

I'm four years out this month as well.  I'm doing fine nutritionally but still have to work a bit to get the protein count higher.  I haven't had any complications and have kept the weight off except for a few pounds I've added this summer.  But I know why and what to do about it.  It comes off when I work at it, and for some reason, it is easier to work at it in the winter.

I too am glad I did the surgery and have a greatly improved quality of life.  I still have my aches and pains due to arthritis, but I remember what the pain was like before.  This has been a great thing for me.

Here's to four more great years--and then four more, and four more, and on and on.

It's very cool that this board still exists, isn't it? I was just scrolling through, looking for someone who had their surgery close to when I had mine, and I found someone who was the same day and it was ME--LOL. It's been a good four years. I had trouble with anemia after 2 years. I'd had mild anemia before the wls, but after I got to goal weight, I just couldn't stock pile enough--I was losing ground each month because of my periods. I ended up having a hysterectomy. Now my iron is good.

My health is so much better. I'm able to run, hike, bike, really I can do just about anything I desire.

Bottom line, I'm so glad that I had the surgery. It hasn't been all fun and games, but it certainly has improved the quality of my life.

It is possible to keep the weight off. I lost all of my excess weight and have been at a healthy BMI (24.1) since July of 06. I eat right, exercise a lot and stay on top of it. If my weight goes 2 pounds above where I want it, I cut back to my early post op diet for a few days. So, it's possible.

If you're reading this before your surgery, I wish you all the best. But if you're an anniversary person like me, I have the warmest hopes for you that your life has been great too. We're doing it! Live life to the fullest with this wonderful second chance we've been given!

I'm still here as well- still one of the best things I have done for myself.  I do have a hard time understanding how folks can gain back the weight....I feel very grateful to have this thinking.  I don't weigh myself but I know that I have actually recently lost more weight so I guess my net loss is about 90 lbs or so.  In a size 8 dress- very happy.  It's all good.  Am I the most compliant?  No, afraid not- I eat bad stuff but hopefully enough good to balance it out.  ANd I should be better with the vitamins and iron- especially as I have been anemic.

I did go thru a period of hypoglycemia- would come on strong in the afternoons to the point that I had to have peanut butter crackers or something near by...but that was only for a few weeks and it hasn't happened in well over a year..

so- just checking in- as we approach our 4 yr anniversary- congrats to all!  KK

Congrats to you, lunawilow. I am in trouble. I have regained almost 50 of the 105 I lost. It's time for me to do something, so I am back to get back on track and get this 50 pound coat back off by January 1,2010. That's my goal.

Any suggestions on ways to  get it done would be appreciated.. are all of you still doing 60 grams of proteins still? What is working for you??
