WOW Stephanie, I am at that same point. I started at 368 and have been betwen 222 and 225 since November...very frustrated. I am going to look for this book and see if it helps. I have started exercising routinely this past month, so hopefully that will help too. Susann

I too was stuck, but not as long as you! I ordered and read a book by Dr Simpson ( I think that's his name) called, losing the last 30 # (surgical weight loss patients). This put things in a much better perspective for me and I think will ultimately help with the transition to maintaining a normal weight (when i'm no longer obsessing about how much I have left to lose). This book really encouraged several key points. Bottom line is calories in and calories out. I starting logging everything I put in my mouth by calorie AND protein content. Alot of protein is very high in calorie, and eventually, when you get closer and closer to goal wieght it's the calorie that dictates gains or losses. The book had you calculate your basal metabolic rate and what calorie intake it takes to MAINTAIN normal body function at your given weight at that time. THen calculate the same calorie intake required to maintain you goal weight. The only choice you will eventually have is to limit the intake and or spend more with activity. It was enlightening to me to look at the difference from the calories needed to maintain my current weight of 165 and my goal weight of 140. It's really not that much, and how much you take in and work off (exercise) is ultimately going to determine your weight. Take home message here : write it down, add it up and see where you're at. My guess is although you are watching the bypass rules you are taking in too many calories and not getting rid of enough with exercise. I would also recommend this book....I found it online but don't remember how. I know I started at amazon.com but ended up on this docs website. He has several other books, but this one is specifically for people stuck after surgery. I hope this helps without sounding preachy, but our bodies are perfect calorie counters. I thought I was making good choices, but my protein choices were providing too many calories to move the scale. It's also a terrific lesson back in portion control too! Stephanie 277/163/

I have been at a stand still now for 15 months. Yep I lost the first three months and nothing else. My husband is in Iraq and I would love to get the last 30 pounds off. I was just dx with ADHD so I am on new meds. I am hoping that helps get things going again. I went from 270 to 219 and I want to get to at least 180 - 190. Not sure what the heck I can do. I was scoped a few times in Jan 06/ Feb 06 and I think Mar 06. I think they stretched me too much and that is why I can't lose weight. I am going to go see the doc her the end of the month and ask if that can be the case. I also wish I could afford a TT! My dunlap is so gross! One day at a time I know. But I would feel so much better if I could get the TT! Casey

i too have been struggling and have finally moved the scale again. I ordered the book by Dr Simpson ( I think that's his name) called, "Losing the last 30 pounds", it was written for surgical weight loss patients. I found it very helpful, although alot of common sense is in reality all we all need. I think it was a good explaination of how to go from losing to maintaining. Kind of a fresh approach to a topic that we really know inside and out quite well. It helped me get over the hump to get things moving. Hope that helps! Stephanie

Amy; What kind of job is it that you're not sure if you can have a water bottle? I keep tons of food (protein bars, Profect tubes, almonds, soy nuts, etc.) in my desk as well as a bottle of water with me all the time. If you can't have stuff with you while you're working, you need to get the most protein dense foods you can to eat on your breaks. Otherwise, you will be lagging by the end of the day. Good luck and congrats on your new job! Blessings, Jennifer

Topic: New Job
Ok I need some advise. I havent had a job since my surgery. I am starting back at full time. How do all of you keep up with the nutrition and water schedules we are to have per day? I really need some suggestions I have been having a dream that I at break I have to choose water or food and at the end of the day I am so tired and my health gets out of wack. It is a new job so I am not sure if the new boss will allow for water bottles during work but I am going ask that would solve my worries. But just in case the answer is no to having water while working. How do you all go about your days and stay healthy. I am anemic so I am worried about falling short on my nutrition. Anything will help in advise. Amy
