Topic: Update
Hey y'all. Sorry I haven't updated in a while. Just wanted to check in to see where everyone is at.
I'm now at 290 lbs. Down from 414. Feel so much better! I can now do things that I haven't been able to do for soooooo long! I actually enjoy taking my walks and going swimming and stuff. It's actually fun! We are planning a trip to a water park, something that I wouldn't have done before surgery. I can't wait!
Well, hope everyone is doing well.
Hugs,
Christina

Check out the profile for Kitty Kat in Richmond, VA. She's about 3 years or so post-op and had a baby a year ago.
Also, my sister, 13 years post-op, accidentally got pregnant 5 months post-op and, unfortunately, her husband was transferred by the Navy to Portugal. Needless to say, she had to become her own advocate for specialized care and learned A LOT on her own about vitamin and mineral suppliments. Of course, this was also before much of the follow-up that now takes place with post-ops.
Good luck!

Topic: RE: What did we eat today???
Hey Bethany,
I'm posting again on what I had yesterday because it's truly more of a representative of how I usually eat.
AM: Protein Delight protein drink with 8 oz lactaid skim milk
Early lunch: 1 chicken thigh, skin removed, 1/4 cup mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup salad with Good Seasons dressing (oil and vinegar)
Afternoon: 2 oz sliced cheddar cheese, 10 apple-cinnamon soy crisps
Dinner: Italian sausage (turkey) sauteed with onions and bell peppers
Snack: Slim Bear ice cream (no sugar added, low fat Klondike)

Hi Elisa,
I started at 301... pretty close.
Exercise: this is the area I need to improve on the most! I have done great, at times, but lately... very little. I'm resolving to get out and walk more during my lunch breaks, hoping that gets me going again.
Water: I drink maybe 1 20oz cup per day of pure water, but 3-4 20 oz cups of crystal lite. Also, 1-2 mugs of coffee and 1-2 cups of skim milk. Also, 1-2 protein drinks per day. I prefer the AchievOne, pre-made.
Odd Changes: None that I can think of. I feel blessed to have had no complications and no new sensitivites to food, other than the kind you want, so you know the TOOL is working.
Best WOW moment: being able to shop for clothing in any store I choose. I've been limited to where I can shop my ENTIRE life. Even as a little girl, it was always Sears because they had the plus sizes for girls! Then it was the Women's departments or Lane Bryant! I also FEEL much better and am now off all medications for diabetes and high blood pressure. Those are my favorite WOW moments. Suprising comments from other people can be amusing, but that's not WHY I went through this process.
Best wishes and I hope this helps!
Hugs,
Tammy

Topic: RE: Have any of you had icecream yet?
No sugar added, low fat Slim Bears... they're made by Klondike and usually right next to the Klondike bars. They do have the gasy effect due to the alcohol sugars, but they take care of the ice cream cravings for me... and no dumping.
Also, I've tried the one bite thing without too much problem. Have learned that ONE bite might not effect me, but more than 3 and whoooo hoooo. That's when I developed my "3 bite rule." Whenever I'm in a situation that's special (birthday, wedding, etc.) I allow myself up to 3 bites of food I wouldn't ordinarily eat. Now, I'm not talking about MOUTH FULL bites, just normal bites. A couple of times I've decided my choice wasn't WORTH 3 bites, so I stopped at 1.
I do dump, but don't think my system is as sensitive as other's I've ready about.
Good luck!
Tammy

Jennifer,
Yep, crazy busy, but happy and getting healier every day. Hubby is getting better but it's a looooong process as the doctor basically had to rebuild his lower leg and ankle area with 16 pins and 2 plates.
Thanks for the prayers for the eye. Such a weird thing... and you can't mess with your eyes! Sight is a precious thing. I ended up being out of work 2 days. Today it's finally less swollen so that I can use both eyes to see.
Congratulations on your success!

Tammy

Hi Bethany,
I've tried ice cream when I was at a party, it did not like me, so now I avoid it like the plague! Got very shaky!
I stick to SF popsicles and fudgsicles for my ice cream cravings.
Good luck!

Thank you Karen for replying.
Congratulations on your loss so far, that's great!
I have't been able to get into exercising. I walk & move as much as I can but nothing routine yet. I have a difficult time with my water intake too. On most days I drink about 48+ oz at the most. Can you send me the link to that hydration calculator you found on MSN? Thanks! Btw your wow moment is a really great one.
Keep up the good job!
Elisa
