exercising

Hi all! I'm curious as to what everyone is doing for exercise? I want to make sure what I'm doing is similar to others and if it isn't, maybe I need to change up my routine again or add more. I go to the gym 5x a week. I do cardio each time, always treadmill with incline, alternate using the bike/UBE/stepper depending on my time limit and what else I want to do. I use free weights both on and off of an exercise ball daily, medicine ball situps daily, exercise ball ab and leg exercises daily, and I alternate crunches/squats/lunges, ankle weight exercises and a variety of weight machines also depending on time and what cardio I did. I know my gym routine is what is taking off the inches, and I should do more cardio, but the treadmill just bores me to death...I've tried music, tv and books, but it just isn't my thing. I do swim on occasion at my job, but fitting that in to my already hectic schedule is very difficult. Anyone else care to share their routine? Thanks in advance! Christine 257.5/195

I hired a trainer and go 3x/week. We work on toning my flab with weights and also do cardio. I am seeing decent results. I hope to increase my excercise sessions in June when I have a month off. It really helps me to have a personal cheerleader.

I know what you mean about a personal cheerleader. Where I go, the exercise physiologist is included in the membership so I have a trainer whenever I want as well as a personalized program that is updated every 15 visits or so. I was lucky in that she also got me working out with a few people as partners so now they are also my cheerleaders and honestly one of the guys is now a WLS advocate, whereas before he thought it was a horrible idea and the "easy way out"...boy did I change his mind! I'm glad to hear you are seeing good results...I guess what I am doing is typical then...although to hear some of the people at the gym...I'm becoming a gym addict...never thought I'd hear those words associated with me! Thanks again for your reply!!

Hello Darlene: I know you are going to be posting the Egg Quiche (Southwester Style) recipe later, but do you have a good recipe for a Quiche Lorraine as well? If so, would you mind sharing that one with me too. Thank you. Also, it's nice to have your husband to work out with. You two can motivate one another. Best regards, ~Danielle

I do free weight every other day, stationary bike, and walk my dog daily. I need to do more, but the neuropathy and fibro still get me down for days at a time when they flare. I want to join a gym, but buying new clothes every other week and paying off the surgery, it's not been in the budget yet. Starla a slow loser in pounds, but fast in getting rid of inches!

I'm swimming a mile three days a wee****asionally I do weights but need to get into a routine. My orthopedist has said absolutely no stairs and the health club I belong to has all the weight machines on the second floor. I also walk a couple of miles a few times a week. Didi 272/192

Good luck Ingrid. You'll do well. I went back to work and was ready for it at 2 1/2 weeks with my G-tube still in (I know some of you didn't have to have one of those). But I kept bumping it against my desk. Was sure glad when it came out. Like some of the other folks, I do better with a routine, like during the week rather than on the weekends. I get everything ready the night before. Save some energy for your excerise because that's the hardest thing, at least for me. Take care, Kristin :-)

wow, thanks for asking this questions. after reading the responses, I just realized that I need to exercise more. I do the elliptical machine 25 minutes for 3-4 days a week. And, I try to go for a walk 2 times a week.

Hi, I joined Curves, which I find somewhat boring, but it is good cardio and strength training. I go 4 times one week, then the following week I use my gazelle 4 times (I'm up to 6.5 mph!!!). It seems to mix it up a bit. I'm not good at exercising, I know I should exercise more, but with working and LIFE, I can't seem to find more time. I know that is only an excuse, but at least I'm exercising!! Diane C.
